C&D winner; has finished runner up in two of his three starts this season, including when beaten ½L by Redarna at Carlisle (7f, good to firm) one month ago; 3lb higher; claimer ridden.
Course winner (7½f) from a 5lb higher mark in April 2018; has remained competitive since winning at Pontefract (1m, good to firm) in April of this year; drying ground would aid his cause further; shouldn't be totally discounted.
A likeable mare who gives her all (AW or turf). However, she does needs a career best effort to score off this mark, 3lb higher than when beating Dark Devil by ½L over 1m2f here (good to soft) three weeks ago.
C&D winner (July 2018); second, but was no match for the progressive Kylie Rules over C&D (good to soft) on his penultimate start - third and fifth have won since; chance if electing to ignore a poor recent Haydock run (on heavy).
Is slipping back down the weights, now 2lb lower than when beating Glorious Poet by a neck at Pontefract (1m, good to soft) last October; reasonably closely matched with the likes of Mount Kinabalu and Ghayyar.
Consistent (AW or turf), although admittedly finds winning races difficult (1-20); finished a head in front of today's rival Abushamah when beaten by the same margin by Hammer Gun at Doncaster (7f, good) in April.
Made a promising debut at Redcar (7f, good to firm) last July, and was back to something like that form in a four-runner C&D novice contest in April; handicap debut off a mark of 77.
In the doldrums since a productive spell last September/October (1,9,2,3,2) so the handicapper is gradually loosening his grip; conditions are ideal, but would only become of interest if the market speaks favourably.
Late developing 3yo; off the mark at the fifth attempt when powering clear of Smeaton (won by ¾L) at Hamilton (1m1f, soft) three weeks ago; 7lb higher in a stronger race, but should continue to progress; solid chance.
Finished just behind Tukhoom at Doncaster (7f, good) in April but has won twice since then, including in a heavy ground 1m Class 6 apprentices' handicap at Yarmouth (escapes a penalty) last week; has no issues with Beverley; merits respect.
Has left the care of Brian Ellison since finishing fourth of 13 (7/2f) at Newcastle last October; 0-7 on turf, albeit does now compete from a career low handicap mark; interesting to see how he fares on return/stable bow, but that's all; other days.
Forecasts
Creek Island (11/4), Ghayyar (9/2), Abushamah (5/1), Tukhoom (11/2), Stringybark Creek (13/2), Kilbaha Lady (10/1), Kingson (14/1), Desert Dream (18/1), Mont Kinabalu (20/1), Zeshov (25/1), Sumner Beach (40/1)
A competitive race in which plenty hold a realistic chance with the likes of Stringybark Creek, Kilbaha Lady and Abushamah among those in solid recent form. Ghayyar chased home the progressive Kylie Rules over C&D on his penultimate start (form boosted by others in behind since, including Saturday's York winner (& stablemate) Poet's Dawn), while Tukhoom doesn't win as often as he probably should yet is difficult to knock for consistency. However, despite stepping up in grade a chance is taken on the improving and late developing 3yo CREEK ISLAND. He got the job done despite veering sharply left at Hamilton (1m1f, soft) three weeks ago.
- Creek Island
- Ghayyar
- Tukhoom
