Won at Chester (1m5f, soft) last year but had a wind operation and switched yards since. Was disappointing over hurdles in December and also made no impact at York last month. Plenty to prove.
Lightly raced and been very progressive; was an easy winner under Jamie Spencer at Doncaster last month and likely a bit more to come. Raised 9lb but may be up to the task again now he's proved his stamina. The ground tempers the confidence a tad.
Has been held off this mark before but the 5lb rise for winning last month is off-set by the fact he's unexposed at the trip. The betting can guide but worth bearing in mind he acts on soft ground, so shouldn't be underestimated.
Lightly raced in recent times but not seen action since racing over hurdles in May 2017 and has had wind surgery and swapped yard since. Best watched this time.
Set to race from 5lb higher than his last winning mark and has a lot to prove after two moderate efforts this season.
Won a class 5 handicap here in May and not disgraced in a class 4 latest; again up in grade more to do. Needs to be at his best to prevail.

Forecasts
Mugatoo (11/8), Ship Of The Fen (7/4), Rydan (11/2), Island Brave (13/2), Never Surrender (11/1), Paddys Motorbike (16/1), Twin Star (16/1), Cristal Spirit (16/1)
The proven ability to handle soft ground swings the vote towards SHIP OF THE FEN, who is set to race from 5lb above his winning mark at Salisbury last month but still has more to offer over this sort of trip. Mugatoo responded well for Jamie Spencer at Doncaster last time and will be a big threat if he copes with these more testing conditions, while Island Brave also has to answer similar questions but does stay well and could be there to pick up the pieces if his main rivals under perform for any reason. Rydan goes well here but this is his stiffest test for a while.
