Galileo colt. Full brother to the yards Bond Street who is a fair sort. One of three in this contest for Ballydoyle, and their newcomers have started to get going recently (three two-year-old winners over the weekend).
Ran another modest race six days ago when seventh of nine at the Curragh (7f; good to yielding). Despite possessing experience, this is another race which includes a number of promising debutantes who have more pressing claims.
Two-year-old who has already been gelded ahead of making his debut. Cost just E1,000 as a foal and not very attractive on paper so is best watched.
From the first crop of freshman sire Gutaifan. Made E8,000 as a yearling. Yard amongst the winners at present (currently operating at a 40% strike-rate). Related to plenty of winners and could run a nice race. Place claims.
Ivawood colt who is related to five winners including Irish Oaks winner Wemyss Bight. Respected on debut for stable who does have success with two-year-olds.
Free Eagle colt. Cost E60,000 as a yearling. Dam is a half-sister to the talented G1 winner Kew Gardens. Stable going well at the moment (5-23 in the last 14 days) and he could feature.
Made an okay start to his racing career when sixth on debut at Fairyhouse (6f; good to firm). Improvement expected from that effort. Steps up to 7f today which should suit judged on how he stayed on really well towards the finish on debut.
Mastercraftsman colt who made just E800 as a yearling. Winners on the dam's side of the pedigree but would be a surprise winner if he was good enough to take this on debut.
Zoffany colt who cost 220,000gns as a yearling. Looks the part on paper and is related to a couple of smart sorts from overseas. Could be the pick of the O'Brien trio.
By Australia. Sole filly in this field. Half-sister to a couple of winners and should produce a respectable debut effort, although likely to come up short as a win prospect.
Forecasts
Armory (11/4), Justifier (9/2), Victory March (5/1), Potala Palace (6/1), The Truant (7/1), Lampetia (8/1), Ivaquestion (12/1), David Garrick (25/1), Falvetti (25/1), Ernie T (100/1)
A maiden full of potentially smart newcomers, of which Justifier is an interesting runner for Ger Lyons. Connections of this Free Eagle colt do very well with two-year-olds and he should give them plenty of fun in the future, regardless of what happens today. However, the eye is immediately drawn to the Ballydoyle representatives VICTORY MARCH and Armory . The yard have started to unleash some very exciting newcomers lately, with narrow preference for the former as his pedigree and eye-catching price-tag give him the edge on paper over the latter who should improve significantly on whatever he does today and will mature with racing.
- Victory March
- Justifier
- Armory
