Dual course winner last year over 7f (good to firm/good to soft), in and out form thereafter. Failed to spark on first start for this trainer at Lingfield but probable he needed the run. Trip looks sharp this time.

One time smart sprinter but form has gone to pieces since leaving Roger Varian and hard to make a case for in his current mood (Engaged 20.15 Lingfield Saturday).

Had wind surgery over winter and duly racked-up three-time in April with wins at Thirsk and Musselburgh over 5f/6f. Went up 15lb along the way and well held at former venue latest in Class 3 race. May bounce back.

Dual winner over 5f around here in the past and potentially on a lenient mark. Handles this trip and soft ground not a problem; ran poor race here last month on quick ground.

Soft-ground winner over 5f at Haydock in September and plenty to like about reappearance at Ascot (6f, soft; 20-1) last when close fourth of 11. Beaten favourite at Haydock on Thursday over this trip, in trouble a long way from home.

Best efforts have come with plenty of cut in the ground, though he was a well beaten last of 11 at Ascot on seasonal reappearance/stable bow. May come on for it, high enough in ratings however.

Listed winner in his younger days but not the force of old and hasn't shown a great deal for this yard in two runs. However, best form is on soft so could now do better and sliding mark puts him in the mix (Engaged 20.15 Lingfield Saturday).

Enjoyed profitable 2018 with 5f wins at Newbury and Windsor and also just failing to get up over this C&D in September (rated 79). Reported to have lost both front shoes in disappointing Doncaster effort last month, should do much better.

Has tended to go well fresh (twice won before) but looked in need of the outing at Ascot (6f, good to soft; 8-1) last month. Betting check needed here as a result.

More than two years since a win at Newbury (6f, soft; 25-1) and starting to show signs of wear and tear now. Never a threat at Epsom last weekend over this trip.

Forecasts

Tawny Port (7/2), Fantasy Keeper (4/1), Boy In The Bar (4/1), Youkan (11/2), Helvetian (11/2), Iconic Knight (6/1), Pennsylvania Dutch (15/2), Quench Dolly (9/1), Sir Titan (10/1), Private Matter (14/1), Double Up (16/1), Blaine (33/1)

Verdict

Boy In The Bar was an unlucky loser here last month having been pinned against the running rail until it was too late. He should go well from the same mark, though soft ground would be a concern. Quench Dolly goes well here and will be suited should testing ground prevail but preference is for HELVETIAN. He's dipped well below his previous winning mark and ran a sound race at Epsom last week having stumbled exiting the stalls. Pennsylvania Dutch fell short in the four-timer bid at Thirsk but is capable of a challenge along with Iconic Knight.
  1. Helvetian
  2. Quench Dolly
  3. Pennsylvania Dutch
