The losing run is now reaching levels of concern although it should be remembered that she is a three-time course winner (two over C&D) who has dropped substantially in the handicap. Shaped as if her reappearance was needed; bounce back possible.

Dual C&D winner who got his season back on track when making all at Bath in May over an extended 5f (below last winning mark). Not in the same form next time (came up short under a penalty); revised mark looks tough, others appeal more.

Some 20lb below his last winning mark he's not really one to be making excuses for though with a long losing run the key to that drop in the weights. Went off too hard over 5f last time at Bath; not one to dwell on for too long.

Form figures here read well (2531311); those three wins all coming over this trip (only 1lb higher than for the last of those). Last two runs have signalled that she's still in good form; won't be inconvenienced by any of the forecast rain.

All her wins have come when returned to the tack within 14 days and with this being just her second run this year she's still likely to need the run. Probably better than the distance she was beaten last time but still makes only limited appeal.

Quickly dispatched from the Robert Cowell yard after four runs having looked no more than modest a view confirmed by her form for this yard. Given another try over 6f last time but failed to show any progress; others offer more.

Came back to something like her best form in first-time cheekpieces on her penultimate start (better away than usual) but failed to get the job done. With a record that reads 1-26 that's hardly surprising; ran a modest race last time, more needed.

64 attempts have so far only been rewarded by seven placed efforts with the search for the elusive win carrying on. Recent form would suggest that the win column is more likely to retain the zero than add a one.

Three AW starts over trips far further than he faces today have so far yielded very little with no solid form at all on display. No makes his first foray into handicaps back at the minimum trip; hard to recommend on the evidence so far.

Forecasts

David's Beauty (5/2), Fethiye Boy (11/4), Glyder (7/2), Jaganory (17/2), Edged Out (10/1), Midnight Guest (10/1), Sovereign State (11/1), Compton Poppy (12/1), Babyfact (14/1), Celerity (25/1), Hellofagame (25/1), Whispering Soul (33/1)

Verdict

No real outstanding candidate here but with DAVID'S BEAUTY was far from disgraced last time out at Bath and her C&D form makes her difficult to ignore especially off this mark and any softening of the ground won’t worry her. Compton Poppy has returned to her original yard (Tony Carroll) and the trainer could hardly be in better form at the moment this C&D winner has edged down the weights and can’t be ignored with a recent reappearance run behind her. Both Midnight Guest and Edged Out hold claims at this level the former now back on a very workable mark and back in the grade she was last successful in.
  1. David's Beauty
  2. Compton Poppy
  3. Midnight Guest
