Had wind surgery before he returned to action with a solid run at Stratford in March; been off since but his only previous win was registered over C&D, so the gelding would be dangerous to rule out. Well worth a betting check.
Held his form reasonably well this year and posted a solid effort last time out despite failing to justify being the favourite. He's suited by going right-handed and his yard is going well just now. Has to be on the shortlist. (Handicap debutante.)
In good form and just 1lb above his last winning mark; latest outing suggested his turn might not be too far away. Steps out of novice races and is a leading contender in this company on handicap debut.
Was an easy winner of a conditional riders race at Carlisle last time (2m1f, heavy) and couldn't wish for a more accomplished rider to take over in the saddle. Still on a reasonable mark and can be thereabouts if he handles the step up in grade.
Won twice last winter and confirmed his well being with a solid run at Kempton last month; had no chance with the winner on that occasion but might be suited by this longer trip. (Runs from the same mark today.) Definite contender.
Sole previous win gained over 2m but has never actually been tried over this trip before now. Should strip fitter after his reappearance at Kempton last time out but has a bit to find with Blushing Red on that piece of form.
Had wind surgery prior to his last run but was well beaten; and plenty to prove now he reverts to hurdles. The trainer always respected with her raids on Market Rasen prize-money but there are holes to be picked in this fellows recent profile.
Big chance on the pick of his Irish form and has scope for some improvement. The market can guide now he tries this trip for the first time. (Worth noting his travel companion from the same yard has solid claims in the 4.50 at Uttoxeter today.)
Won a maiden hurdle at Newcastle in January and held his form well since; gets on well with the jockey whose 3lb claim is a handy tool. A bold bid over this trip is likely. Another to consider.
Forecasts
Haafapiece (7/2), Romanor (4/1), Zig Zag (9/2), Blushing Red (5/1), Fanzio (7/1), Tiffin Top (8/1), Demon D'Aunou (10/1), Bold Emperor (10/1), Black Art (50/1)
TIFFFIN TOP is worth another throw of the dice as he makes his handicap debut at a very winnable level. Demon D'Aunou already has a C&D win to his name and is feared as a main danger, while Bold Emperor and Blushing Red are both very capable of spoiling the party for the selection; the latter especially if he copes with the challenge of this new trip. Zig Zag, who won a conditional riders' race last time, is also highly respected now that Richard Johnson takes the reins for the follow up bid.
- Tiffin Top
- Blushing Red
- Bold Emperor
