Showed far more than on his AW debut at Redcar over 7f last time (more professional attitude) winning with something to spare. Now steps back on to the AW (new surface) upped in trip under a penalty; will continue to make an impression.

C&D winner who left his earlier debut form well behind having been given time to mature; still looked inexperienced but found plenty to lead close home. Race may not have been that strong; capable of better still if given a stiffer test of stamina.

Made a successful AW debut (1m) last September at Lingfield appearing to know plenty on her debut but still having scope to improve. Not seen to best effect over the same C&D on her return to action; finished with running left; should appreciate this

Trainer not noted for debut winners in this sphere and with a 7lb claimer on board not much appears to be expected. Gelded for his first appearance he's a half-brother to several winners; may need further/time and handicaps to show his worth.

Debutante son of Mukhadram (second foal) out of a dam who was a 7f winner (half-sister to top-class winner up to 7f Muhaarar out of useful 7f winner Tahrir). Yard not had a first-time winner in this sphere; best watched.

Yard have had a couple of debut winners in similar event; cost €45,000 as a yearling (half-brother to a couple of 5f juvenile winners). This trip may prove too much of a test with some strong staying types in the field.

One of the more interesting newcomers from a yard in good form and with a useful pedigree; half-brother to a couple of winners at 1m and further. Stamina very much in evidence on the dam's side of the pedigree; not out of this.

Made what appeared to be a creditable debut at Kempton last week over 7f behind a winner a more experienced dual winner. Entitled to take a step forward from that over an extra 2f but does face some useful adversaries.

Very much bred for stamina (half-sister to 2m and 1m4f winners) and unsurprising that she's shown very little so far in two 7f AW starts late last year. She'll need further and handicaps before she's able to show her worth.

Half-sister to several winners including useful winner up to 2m Lord George (won here as a juvenile). Yard usually take their time with these sorts; likely to need this, will be of more interest once she's stepped up in trip.

Gave a much better performance the second time around on a far sounder surface than she encountered on her debut when taking the runner up slot at Redcar. No match for the winner she receives plenty of weight which brings her into the argument.

Forecasts

Cristal Breeze (6/4), Fragrant Belle (4/1), Sea Sculpture (9/2), Universal Effect (13/2), Undercolours (20/1), Reine Magnifique (20/1), Social Calendar (20/1), Muhaarar's Nephew (22/1), Rudy Lewis (40/1), Clifton (100/1), Miss Swift (150/1)

Verdict

This looks a fairly deep novice with the penalised runners facing a stiff test to give the weight away although the way that Cristal Breeze drew clear of his field last time at Redcar made it clear that he had plenty of scope for progress. He’s the pick of those with a penalty with Sea Sculpture and Fragrant Belle both slated for progress but in their own way still looking vulnerable. Of the newcomers James Tate’s Social Calendar looks the most interesting newcomer with the yard still going well and he won’t lack for stamina. UNIVERSAL EFFECT receives almost a stone in this switching to the AW and with the experience of two runs behind her she may well be able to make the experience tell.
  1. Universal Effect
  2. Cristal Breeze
  3. Social Calendar
