Has shown very definite improvement since turning three; beaten a head on the AW at Wolverhampton (1m+) in April, he made amends when seeing off Military Tactic by 2L in a 1m Thirsk novice (good to soft) 19 days ago; handicap debut.

Unsuccessfully contested the Derby trial at Epsom (1m2f) in April following back-to-back wins (7½f-1m2f) prior; raced prominently and very narrowly beaten in a three-way tussle by Global Heat at Ripon (1m2f) latest; due a 4lb rise in the weights.

Frankel colt (€700,000 yearling); showed reasonable juvenile form, yet progressed markedly when upped in trip (to 1m2f) on handicap debut at Chelmsford, beating The Trader by ½L; 6lb higher for turf return.

Zoffany colt who seeks an elongated hat-trick following late season juvenile wins at Salisbury (1m) and Wolverhampton (1m1½f); probable that the handicapper has erred on the side of caution with an opening mark of 85.

Pour Me A Drink33
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: H Crouch| T: C G Cox| OR:  79
7/2
Nathaniel gelding; ran well on seasonal reappearance in a good quality 1m Newbury maiden; off the mark at the first time of asking in a 1m Class 5 handicap at Haydock (soft) next up, beating Ouzo by ½L; should stay this new trip.

Forecasts

Fox Premier (9/4), Pour Me A Drink (7/2), Emirates Knight (7/2), Sameem (4/1), Albert Finney (6/1), Jersey Wonder (20/1)

Verdict

A compact looking handicap in which it would be foolish to dismiss any of the six declared runners, although the handicapper has possibly set Jersey Wonder plenty to do off an opening mark of 85. This 1m2f trip has brought about considerable improvement for Fox Premier and could equally do so for the slightly less exposed Nathaniel gelding Pour Me A Drink. However, for small stakes only the vote sways in the direction of the front-runner SAMEEM who clearly has his own fairly effective way of going about his business.
  1. Sameem
  2. Pour Me A Drink
  3. Fox Premier
