Took a step forward last time when fifth on handicap debut at Salisbury (7f; good to firm) off a mark of 62. Dropped 3lb for that and has place claims if building on what was the most encouraging run he has produced in his career to date.

Uninspiring of late and hasn't won a race since springing a 33-1 surprise at Doncaster (6f good) in 2016. 20lb below that mark but needs to have benefitted majorly from a 119 day break. Watching brief advised.

Made an okay return from a three-month break when fifth at Nottingham (1m; soft). Just 1lb above last winning mark but difficult to recommend in current form.

Has won over C&D the last twice, most recently when beating an odds-on favourite by a neck. Raised just 3lb for that and cannot be written off in bid to get the hat-trick up. Game sort.

More exposed than most in this field but is one of very few in this who actually have solid form to their name. Good run over C&D in February when second. Would need to improve a tad off his most recent run when third at Yarmouth (7f; good).

Holds a similar sort of profile to that of his trainers runner earlier on the card in that he showed nothing in maidens throughout last season and is making his handicap debut. Interesting if the market speaks in his favour.

Kingman gelding who has proved a little disappointing so far. Dropped 6lb for finishing 11th of 12 at Wetherby (7f; good to soft) recently. Comes back into a Class 5 today and wears first time cheekpieces. Lots more required.

Made handicap debut last time out when eighth at Redcar (7f; good to firm). That was poor and she requires a great deal of improvement to be considered in any form today. Readily opposed.

Achieved a career best last time when third at Yarmouth (1m; good to firm). Comes back to 7f which looks a good move and a definite player if capable of building on that performance.

One of two representatives for Michael Appleby. Returns to 7f after finishing in midfield at Thirsk most recently (6f; good). Mark has dropped another 2lb since then but must improve a great deal on what he has shown so far this year.

Never involved in two outings so far this year. Beginning to look regressive and is impossible to recommend in current form.

Verdict

This looks set to rest between the two in-form horses who are both gunning for hat-tricks in the shape of Atalanta Queen and FLY TRUE. The latter is narrowly preferred, despite the fact she must give away 6lb to the former, as she holds the slightly stronger form. It is likely that there won't be too much in it and it will be interesting to find out who comes out on the top. Khaan improved a great deal on what he had shown in maidens when making an encouraging handicap debut and can finish in the money again, if able to put his only run on fibresand behind him.
  1. Fly True
  2. Atalanta Queen
  3. Khaan
