Dam won over 5f, but this gelding has been beaten a long way in two starts over further, and he makes precious little appeal this side of handicaps. Cheekpieces reached for now.

£37,000 half-brother to useful 2-y-o 5f/5½f winner Simmie and 2-y-o 6f/6½f winner Trebetherick out of a winning half-sister to smart sprinter Kathy Dream. Ought to be precocious, so fact he's making belated debut here is an obvious concern.

Dream Ahead half-brother to 1m winner Mustatrif. Soundly beaten on both starts so far, and while he may still do better, it's likely to be when qualified for handicaps.

Full-brother to connections' smart perfomer Abe Lincoln. Merely matched debut form when fifth of 9 to Archer's Dream in 6f novice at Yarmouth last time, but likely to do better at some point. Tongu tied for first time here.

Better effort to date when fifth of 11 to Obee Jo in a 6f maiden at Thirsk last time, when not helped by a slow start. Hooded now, but cannot afford to give these a start.

Son of Zebedee who has been readily held in 6f events at Thirsk and Ripon so far, and appeals more as a handicap project if anything.

Clodovil half-sister to 1m1f winner Miesque's Star and 7f winner Dawn of The World. In good hands, but entitled to need the run on belated debut.

Disappointing at Ripon recently, but made a promising start, and had a couple of these in her wake, when beaten a short head on debut at Thirsk last month. Probably worth another chance.

Raksha
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: D Tudhope| T: D O'Meara
11/4
By Dandy Man out of a 1¼m winner. Makes some appeal on paper, and in capable hands, but could need this initial experience, so market should guide as to her chances.

Forecasts

Raksha (11/4), In Trutina (3/1), Fortamour (7/2), Lost In Alaska (4/1), Diamond Shower (13/2), Mea Culpa (20/1), Hard Knock Life (33/1), Torque Of The Town (66/1), Corralejo (100/1)

Verdict

IN TRUTINA disappointed last time, but ran well on her debut at Thirsk, going down only in a photo, and she is taken to build belatedly on that promise. Lost In Alaska is well connected and surely capable of better than the modest form he's shown to date, with the fitting of a tongue tie a possible catalyst for improvement. He's feared, although there are three newcomers from capable yards who can't be ignored, with Fortamour the pick on pedigree.
  1. In Trutina
  2. Fortamour
  3. Lost In Alaska
