40,000gns yearling by Dutch Art was slow away and green when fourth of five on debut at Newcastle (4/9F). Clearly held in some regard then and yard having two-year-old winners already so much better expected now.

Improved on debut effort at Beverley to finish fourth there next albeit beaten 8L. Experience a plus but doubt he doesn't find a few too smart.

58,000gns yearling by Kyllachy; third foal; half-brother to 7f-1m winner Lincoln Rocks (inc Listed); dam 6f 2yo winner. Yard also run once-raced Dutch Decoy so market comparison should be informative, no surprise if he goes well.
35,000gns yearling by Make Believe; second foal; dam Group-placed 6f 2yo winner. Market check advised for this speedily bred newcomer.

22,000gns yearling by Make Believe; 10th foal; half-brother to winners Nahoodh (6f Lowther/1m Falmouth), Silver Games (7f 2yo/1m) and Thahab (6f AW/Qatar). Yard won this 12 months ago and pedigree-wise this one goes very high on the list here.

By Cable Bay out of a 1m winner, he looked more a long-term prospect when sixth of nine at Beverley on debut, Much more needed.

Due Diligence colt bought for 65,000 gns made a most pleasing start on the AW at Wolverhampton finishing third of 11 to a decent winner. That form the best on offer and with progress likely he is the one to beat here.

Forecasts

War Storm (5/2), Makyon (7/2), Dutch Decoy (7/2), Jump The Gun (5/1), Findhorn (5/1), International Lion (13/2), Geepower (16/1), Van Dijk (20/1), Break Cover (33/1)

Verdict

The debut third of WAR STORM looks form good enough to go very close here and with further progress expected he will set a decent standard for the others so looks the safest bet. Of the five newcomers Makyon for last year's winning trainer Mark Johnston and Findhorn for Kevin Ryan whose two-year-olds are finding their feet now look the most likely.
  1. War Storm
  2. Makyon
  3. Findhorn
