Showed liking for staying trips last season with wins over 2m/1m6f in handicaps. Twice ran well on AW this year before going close in Nottingham Listed event (1m6f, good to firm; 16-1) and flop in Ascot Group 3 easily dismissed. Fine claimer booked.

C&D Listed winner in 2016 for Sir Michael Stoute, he won this race on seasonal bow last year (first start for this trainer) and rated 2lb lower now. Underwent wind surgery after couple of flat performances last year; much-respected here (2-4 C&D).

One of the success stories of last season winning six of seven starts from 1m2f to 2m and rising 28lb in the process. Latest score at Ascot (2m, good; 4-1) came from just 3lb lower, has had benefit of AW run last month to tune up. Not discounted.

By Frankel and emulating sire in racking up a five-timer since making debut for Mark Johnston in March (won in Germany in 2017). Has won over this trip and no telling if handicapper is on terms with the unbeaten improver just yet.

Winner of minor Kempton contest (1m, AW) in January 2018 and only two starts thereafter came in Group 3s at Sandown (1m2f, good to soft) and Royal Ascot (1m4f, good to firm). Has 339-day absence to defy on handicap bow, gets Oisin Murphy's help.

Hasn't added to 2017 Doncaster maiden win over 1m, though has three-times finished second in good handicaps over 1m4f and also credible in York's Melrose Handicap over this trip last summer. Second at Ascot on return, career-best needed to get win.

Verdict

KING'S ADVICE is making up for lost time and is now a perfect 5-5 for Mark Johnston having only made his debut for the yard in March. The way he completed his mission at Ripon last time didn't necessarily suggest the assessor will catch him out with another 3lb now. Amazing Red's Ascot flop is best forgotten and he should go well here for young Cieren Fallon while Platitude boasts a pair of C&D successes and it won't be a shock to see him run well back here.
