Produced her best effort so far in handicap company when winning by ½L at Hamilton (1m+, good to firm) last week; carries a 5lb penalty as a result; stable in excellent form.
Given a 4lb rise by the assessor for her 1L Redcar win (1m2f, good); admirably consistent on the AW immediately prior; interesting to see how she adapts to the loss of headgear (cheekpieces not declared).
Still 2lb higher than when winning at Redcar (1m2f, good) last summer - her third win of the 2018 campaign; keen and soon weakened on seasonal reappearance at Nottingham (1m2f); should appreciate these quicker conditions.
Won from this mark on the AW at Wolverhampton (1m1f+) last August, but is equally effective on turf (3-22). However, isn't in the best of form of late; visor replaces blinkers.
Sea The Stars filly; sent off 4/1f on handicap debut at Nottingham (1m2f, good to soft) when a never nearer 7L sixth of 14 to Cuban Sun; dropped 2lb and wears newly-applied cheekpieces; possible player.
Showed ability when runner-up in an AW bumper at Newcastle (2m½f; 16-1) in January, but has gone backwards since; rear-division finish when starting at odds of 66/1 on handicap debut at Thirsk (1m4f).
16-race maiden who is of limited ability (selling plater); seems to prefer turf racing to the AW, so at least that's in her favour tonight; look elsewhere.
18-race maiden; beaten out of sight (again) when upped to 2m2f here in April; simply can't be the solution.
Bated Breath filly (£32,000 yearling); has shown little to enthuse over in three starts on the AW, hence how she makes her handicap/turf debut from a relatively modest mark (62); merits a market check.
Nathaniel filly (18,000gns yearling); ran well when finishing 1L third to Kvetuschka on debut at Lingfield (1m2f novices'); not so pleasing since, but this race isn't exactly an overly taxing opening handicap assignment; needs a market check.
Forecasts
Navigate By Stars (6/4), Never Be Enough (4/1), Samstar (5/1), Kilbaha Lady (6/1), Moretti (12/1), Bollin Joan (16/1), Hikayah (16/1), Beatbybeatbybeat (20/1), Bravantina (33/1), Lots Ov (66/1)
The lightly-raced 3yo handicap debutantes Hikayah (David O'Meara) and Samstar (Mark Johnston) are worthy of a market check, and if either or both attract sustained support that could be worth heeding. Never Be Enough carries a 5lb penalty for her recent Hamilton win, but has always been well regarded at home by the in-form Keith Dalgleish so could have more too offer. However, for small stakes a speculative shout goes up for the newly cheek-pieced Sea The Stars filly NAVIGATE BY STARS who finished 12½L fourth to the Dante Stakes winner Telecaster in a Windsor novice in April (third placed Future Investment a Chester maiden scorer since).
- Navigate By Stars
