Won twice over 1m2f last August on good to soft although seemed to find revised mark tough in two subsequent starts. Longer trip and faster ground on return raise further doubts but still relatively unexposed.

3lb rise for latest Salisbury success (1m4f) means she arrives on a career-high mark but was a highly progressive filly last season and on recent evidence that may continue. Leading claims.

Went close at Ascot off this mark last season after winning at Doncaster before set a tough task in a Group Two. Midfield on return but strip fitter for it. All four wins with soft in the description so will hope for rain.

Did best work late when winning first race at Sandown last season (1m2f handicap). Returned to action with a solid third at Doncaster off this mark and both aforementioned suggested she might relish this trip; appealing profile.

Won twice on turf last autumn before two lesser runs on the AW which were concerning as she does handle the surface. Freshened up since however and mark certainly within capabilities.

Beaten 1L by Hyanna latest (2lb better off today) at Salisbury where she was doing her best work late on. Bigger field may mean stronger gallop which will definitely be in her favour. Sound claims.

1m2f course winner ran respectably on return at Windsor where third over 1m3½f off this mark. Nagging doubts that this trip will be her downfall but could still run a big race.

Should stay this distance if her keenness can be harnessed and after three solid thirds this season she appears at a workable mark. If anyone can settle her it will be the champion jockey who is aboard for the first time today.

Forecasts

Hulcote (3/1), Hyanna (9/2), Mystic Meg (11/2), Lightening Dance (6/1), Velvet Vision (7/1), White Chocolate (8/1), Dono Di Dio (9/1), Spirit Of Appin (16/1)

Verdict

Lightly-raced Sandown handicap winner HULCOTE looked like she would improve further for a step up in trip on return at Doncaster and now with the extra distance she can find further progress to win this. Hyanna and Dono Di Mio are closely matched on their 1-2 finish at Salisbury latest but even now 2lb worse off Hyanna is narrowly preferred to confirm placings.
  1. Hulcote
  2. Hyanna
  3. Dono di Dio
