Outran 100/1 odds lately in his second start when finishing seventh of 16 at Naas but even that someway short of the required here.
Son of No Nay Never gelded ahead of debut where he finished ninth of 16 at Gowran. Should come on for that but unlikely enough to make the frame.
Well bred colt showed plenty of potential when fourth in a 7f Leopardstown maiden last October although was a little disappointing as favourite next at Dundalk when sixth of 12. C&D second on return more like it and leading claims here.
Camacho newcomer fourth foal; half-brother to winners Not Your Call (6f-1m AW) and Falcao (6f inc Fibresand); dam unraced sister to US 1m-1m1f Grade 2 winner Naissance Royale. Best watched barring market support.
Son of Born To Sea could only muster 13th of 16 on debut at Gowran and with that in mind is best watched here.
Exceed and Excel colt, cost €62,000 as a yearling. 12th of 20 on debut at Naas not devoid of promise but big step up needed to feature here.
Galileo colt. Dam multiple Group 1 winner up to 1m2f in Australia but showed little to remind of illustrious parents in two starts to date (11th of 15 and 12th of 17). Surely do better soon enough but appeal quite limited.
Midfield at Dundalk last November and return at Leopardstown last month. Should come on for most recent effort but may be a greater force when handicapping soon.
Dark Angel newcomer; £68,000 yearling; first foal; dam 7f-1m winner, half-sister to 7f-10.7f winner Highland Dragon. Market support should be noted here.
By War Front and first foal of a mare who won two races from 7f-1m2f. Excellent debut last September when third of 12 to 2000 Guineas winner Magna Grecia over 7f. Better still now over 1m and has resounding claims.
Sixth in 2000 Guineas winner Magna Grecia's maiden on debut (Tranchee third) and improved when a short head second to subsequent Group Three winner Happen next. Could now turn the tables on Tranchee and the pair of them appeal most.
Cost just 1,000gns at auction and was midfield on debut at Gowran. Will need big step up to play a significant part.
Forecasts
Tranchee (5/2), Morpho Blue (11/4), Balefire (3/1), Pacific Ocean (7/1), Phoenix Open (14/1), Split Down South (25/1), Memsie (33/1), Cafe Con Leche (33/1), Athlumney Hall (33/1), Nicola's Fancy (66/1), Appian Way (100/1), Castlegrove (100/1)
Both of TRANCHEE and Morpho Blue had the misfortune of bumping into dual Group One winner Magna Grecia on debut but acquitted themselves remarkably well in third and sixth. The former was particularly impressive there although Morpho Blue since pushed an Oaks candidate very close so could easily yet prove capable of reversing the form. Recent C&D second Balefire could take advantage if either or both need their first run of the season.
- Tranchee
- Morpho Blue
- Balefire
