€7,500 foal, Ivawood colt. Dam unraced. Betting should reveal plenty on debut with Joe Fanning booked to steer.
34,000 gns foal, €31,000 yearling. Finished only fifth of eight in maiden at Doncaster (5f, good; 9-1) on debut 23 days ago. Should have learned from that outing.
Garswood colt. Dam unraced. Yard going through quiet spell (0-20 lately), entitled to shape well in what is a modest race.
5,000 gns foal then changed hands for £60,000 as a yearling, Mayson colt. Dam a two-year-old 5f winner; worth a close look on first start.
60,000 gns yearling, Dark Angel colt. Brother to smart two-year-old 5f/6f winner Alhebayeb and useful winner up to 1m Azmaam. Represents good yard on debut, betting should reveal plenty.
45,000 gns foal, Dutch Art colt. Dam a juvenile 5f winner. First two-year-old runner for the yard this year, jockey in fine form lately.
35,000 gns yearling, Equiano colt. Dam, winner up to 1m7f (two-year-old 1m2f winner), half-sister to very smart winner up to 1m4f Spark Plug. Second runner for Richard Fahey in this contest.
19,000 gns foal, £11,000 yearling, Cable Bay colt. Dam, 5f/6f winner, half-sister to useful 5f winner Hoyam. Second runner for the yard in this field.
£11,000 yearling. Seventh foal. Brother to 7f AW winner Mia Cara, closely related to 1m 2yo winner Vita Mina. Only sixth of seven in minor event at Pontefract (5f, good to firm; 100-1) 19 days ago. Hooded now.
Sprint bred so may be worth looking out for in this company in the future, finished last of ten in minor event at Ripon (5f, good) on debut 23 days ago, breaking slowly, so caution advised for now.
Fountain of Youth filly. Dam, maiden (stayed 6f), half-sister to smart 5f-7f winner Silaah. Second runner for trainer Michael Dods in this field, with yard 0-20 in recent weeks.
Forecasts
Dragon Command (11/4), Spartan Fighter (11/4), Rayong (7/2), Silver Mission (9/1), Leapers Wood (11/1), Breguet Man (12/1), Star Of St James (16/1), Stormy Bay (28/1), Ice Skate (40/1), Pearl Stream (40/1), Tonquin Valley (125/1)
A trio of yards are doubly-represented in this opener, ensuring a close look at the betting will be essential with little form to speak of. Richard Fahey's newcomers Silver Mission and Star of St James both makes some appeal on paper while Dragon Command's Doncaster debut wasn't without promise and is likely to be improved upon. Karl Burke's two-year-old's have made a slow start but RAYONG makes some appeal on paper and is bred to appreciate this test. He gets a slender vote, with any market support increasing confidence.
- Rayong
- Dragon Command
- Silver Mission
