Won well at Haydock last September over 1m6f on heavy ground. Close third in November handicap more evidence he is capable off such a mark and started the season with respectable Salisbury third on good to firm. Progressive and highly respected.

Dual 2m AW winner last winter and although he's only 1-17 on turf he is yet to tackle races beyond 1m4f on the surface so perhaps his improvement will carry over here.

Put up a career best effort when winning at Kempton two starts back and not disgraced at Chelmsford subsequently when third of seven but woeful performance latest at Lingfield and last four turf runs as bad.

Smart hurdler has really excelled since switching to the flat and took record to 3-3 when winning at Salisbury latest (Reshoun third). 4lb rise not enough to douse the flames at present and every chance he remains unbeaten.

Dual 2m winner at Chester on quick ground last season can be forgiven his last run at York on soft (withdrawn on heavy since). 4lb higher than last win but seemingly progressive sort could go well again.

Won three times last season but flopped here in last start of the campaign and similar event when last of 14 at Musselburgh first time out this campaign. Can do better with that run under his belt and is a danger when getting a soft lead.

Switched yards for 62,000 gns having won on debut for Sir Michael Stoute and ending 2018 with a fair effort at Newcastle. That looked money well spent when he won impressively first time out at Bath (1m3½f). Up in trip and 7lb but respected.

Useful five-time hurdles winner good enough to run at Cheltenham and Aintree festivals although without success. Fourth on AW Flat return short of what's required here however.

Fire Jet27
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-11| J: J Quinn| T: J Mackie| OR:  85| D

Tough mare, ran some good races last year without reward, sliding down the ratings and should get head in front this term, though possibly needs further easing based on 12th of 14 on return.

Lissitzky15
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-7| J: M Dwyer| T: A M Balding| OR:  81
16/1
1m3½f Windsor novice winner last term is lightly raced and has run pretty well twice since although worrying that lone disappointment his only start over this trip. That reason enough to oppose here.

Forecasts

Gumball (6/5), Reshoun (4/1), Hareeq (7/1), Fire Jet (10/1), Lissitzky (16/1), Busy Street (16/1), Master Archer (25/1), All Set To Go (33/1), Artarmon (33/1), Stamford Raffles (66/1)

Verdict

GUMBALL could hardly have started better since belatedly switching to the Flat and Philip Hobbs' gelding can remain unbeaten here with a 4lb rise for his Salisbury win pretty lenient. Behind him there but now likely to strip fitter and of course 4lb better off progressive Reshoun rates a danger. If Hareeq stays this trip he could be a danger to all after starting out with a pretty emphatic win at Bath.
  1. Gumball
  2. Reshoun
  3. Hareeq
