Twice a winner here once over this trip his visits to the course have been punctuated by absences of late; despite that he's still shown some useful form. Ran into a thrown-in winner last time; yet to win a handicap but should be competitive.
Win in a C&D novice late last year showed how well he was suited by the increased distance and he's been kept at this trip and further since. Still shaped as if in good form when fourth over C&D (handicap debut); needs a real test to be at his best.
Knows his way around here (winner four times) with his C&D win coming from a mark that was 6lb lower. Fell at the first last time but his previous Musselburgh third is evidence that he's still worthy of noting at this level.
Front-runner who could go round here blindfold (6-28 at the course); three of those wins coming over this trip. Recent efforts have lacked her usual sparkle and she looks to be struggling since her mark was raised back over the 100 barrier.
Looks rather lack-lustre at the current time having been successful on his handicap debut off a 15lb higher mark. Tried in a visor last time in an attempt to find some spark; possible that reuniting with today's rider will work the oracle.
Infrequent winner and one who it can be hard to trust with his last win coming over a year ago at a course (Carlisle) where he's more at home. His last two runs there have looked respectable but produced the usual flatter to deceive scenario.
Dual Flat winner whose only had four starts over hurdles and now steps into handicap company in this sphere for the first time. Had wind surgery since last seen; mark (on his Flat form) doesn't look to onerous; one to note in the market.

Forecasts
Ryedale Racer (2/1), Beyondtemptation (9/2), Blunder Buss (5/1), Kalaharry (5/1), Stoney Rover (6/1), Desert Island Dusk (7/1), Pistol (8/1), Kick On Dottie (8/1), Near Kettering (10/1)
Not many of these that you can write off easily but it’s the bottom weight NEAR KETTERING who holds the most fascination for a yard who know how to get one ready for a handicap debut and based on his Flat form he’s on a very attractive mark. Ryedale Racer and Kalaharry have form that relates back to their novice days and both of those have a part to play here along with course specialist Desert Island Dusk who can never be left out of the equation at a track that suits him well. Brian Hughes being back on Blunder Buss is seen as a positive and any positive market vibes should be noted.
