Multiple winner over 5f/6f on ground ranging from good to firm to good to soft. 4lb higher than his last win, so more needed, but unexposed over this trip and not ruled out from a good draw.

Has won over 1m, while his last success came over 6f, so no issues with this trip. Has had wind surgery since his last run, but will need to find some improvement for that to win from this mark and such a wide draw.

7½f winner at Beverley (good to firm) last May. Below that level on only subsequent run last season, but bettered it on his reappearance at Wolverhampton (7f, AW). Up 1lb, drawn well and not written off.

Debut winner at Thirsk (7f, soft) in 2017, and also scored on seasonal reappearance last year at Wetherby (7f, soft), both in novice events. Below that level in handicaps, but after wind surgery and a 3lb drop, he is interesting now fresh again.

Has earned three of his five career wins here, two over C&D and the other over 7½f, on good/good to firm ground. Has also run well here on heavy. Poor draw to contend with, but is very interesting back on his last winning mark.

Yet to win beyond 6f, but sees out at least 7f, and has run well here in the past. Has had two wind operations since last seen at York in October. 7lb higher than his last win and badly drawn here, so probably one to watch.

Son of Frankel who scored over 1m (good to soft) in France last September and improved on that on both his two subsequent starts. Cost €75,000 in the autumn and is interesting on stable/handicap debut from this mark,

Enjoyed three wins from four spells in a purple patch in 2017 (7f-1m). Ran well at this meeting last year when beaten just over 1L from 8lb higher. Back to better form at Kempton last time and not ruled out.

Dark Intention186
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-5| J: S De Sousa| T: L A Mullaney| OR:  83| C| D
15/2
Dual course winner over 7½f and has won at York over this sort of trip twice too. 1lb higher than last win here in September and nicely drawn here, so could go well, though nagging doubts about her record when fresh.

Humble Gratitude15
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-4| J: David Egan| T: Ian Williams| OR:  82| D
16/1
Distance winner at Haydock (good to firm) last season and has also run well here. Probably in need of recent AW run, and not ruled out from what looks a competitive mark.

Queen's Sargent38
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-4| J: S A Gray| T: K A Ryan| OR:  82| D
4/1
Heavy ground winner over this trip at Musselburgh last year, when 6lb higher. Has been very competitive from this mark or 1lb lower on his last three starts. Won't mind any rain and has an inside draw, so not written off.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-4| J: P Mulrennan| T: M & D Easterby| OR:  82
50/1
Dual fast ground winner over 1m. Went close at York from 1lb lower this time last year, but not seen since June, has come off worst of the draw, and probably best to wait for other days.

Roberov15
Age: 7|  Weight: 9-2| J: David Probert| T: Miss Gay Kelleway| OR:  80| D
16/1
Multiple winner on both turf/AW from 6f-1m. Back on same mark as his latest success at Wolverhampton in December, and has a decent draw, so can't rule him out.

Tadaawolp16
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-2| J: Ben Sanderson(5)| T: R Fell & S Murray| OR:  80| D
33/1
Fast ground lover (has also won on soft) who has won in this grade, but tends to do better in Class 5 races. Also high enough in the handicap at present and not well drawn, so we'll pass this time.

Forecasts

Queen's Sargent (4/1), Elerfaan (9/2), Gin In The Inn (5/1), Air Raid (6/1), Dark Intention (15/2), Gossiping (8/1), Penwortham (16/1), Humble Gratitude (16/1), Calder Prince (16/1), Robero (16/1), Frankelio (25/1), Tadaawol (33/1), My Amigo (40/1), Imperial State (50/1)

Verdict

Richard Fahey again has chances here with both Gin In The Inn and Penwortham, who looks the first string on jockey bookings. Both can go well, but the most interesting runner here is FRANKELIO, who was improving when last seen in France, handles cut and looks to be on a workable mark for his debut for Micky Hammond. Air Raid looks a threat, while Elerfaan, Dark Intention, Humble Gratitude and Robero are others who can't be ruled out.
  1. Frankelio
  2. Air Raid
  3. Penwortham
