Versatile 9yo; low-mileage on the Flat since 2016; finished runner-up to Clayton in a C&D seller (good) last month; more required in a stronger contest.
Three-time Flat winner (up to 1m6f); in fine fettle over hurdles during the winter (2-3); fourth and beaten just over 4L by the subsequent dual winner Archive on return to the Flat at Pontefract recently.
1lb higher than when making all to beat today's rival Four Kingdoms by a neck over 2m here (good to firm) in July 2018; beaten favourite over hurdles at Perth last week; stablemate of Tomorrow's Angel.
Hasn't taken at all well to hurdling, so no surprise he reverts to racing on the level; a four-time winner, including on three occasions at Musselburgh (1m4f+ to 2m); monitor for signs of market confidence; stablemate of Maulesden May.
Five-time career winner (1m1f-1m4f+); competitive over C&D in late 2018, including when finishing just over 1L second to Firlinfeu (good); should strip fitter for a recent run; stablemate of Sebastian's Wish.
Has previous with a couple of today's rivals including Golden Jeffrey; 6lb higher than when beating Ravenswood by ¾L over C&D 12 months ago when trained by Karl Burke.
Formerly with David Simcock and lightly-raced on the Flat (this race is her handicap debut); beaten a nose in a juvenile maiden hurdle at Newcastle (2m, good to soft) in January; stablemate of Golden Jeffrey.
Forecasts
Kajaki (11/4), Apterix (4/1), Four Kingdoms (4/1), Tomorrow's Angel (5/1), Maulesden May (5/1), Golden Jeffrey (10/1), Sebastian's Wish (22/1)
A trappy looking contest, with the Scottish-based handlers Keith Dalgleish and Iain Jardine both being doubly-represented. Stakes in this race should be kept to a minimum with the pre-race market perhaps offering the most relevant guide in terms of fitness and expectations. Kajaki makes the shortlist with his recent Pontefract fourth well advertised by the winner Archive since. However, we'll chance the filly and handicap debutante TOMORROW'S ANGEL who has shown a degree of ability on both the AW and over hurdles, and rates as an interesting prospect.
- Tomorrow's Angel
- Kajaki
- Maulesden May
