On fourth trainer now, having previously raced for Brian Ellison. Came back from 21-month absence to shape quite promisingly at Doncaster at the end of March and still looks fairly treated. Chances, with trip fine, if coming on again from that.
Beaten less than a length over C&D back in February, and 3lb lower here, so every chance from a handicapping point of view. Poor last two runs on turf but no surprise were he to bounce back now returned to Tapeta, which he seems to run well on.
Winner over a mile here last December, and has another victory here to his name, so clearly enjoys the surface. Shaped well at Pontefract last time, coming back off an absence, but this trip is a concern, with best form coming at a mile.
Have to go back to 2016 to find his last success but there are a scattering of efforts on Tapeta that give him a chance here. Needs to bounce back from a below par effort at Redcar last time, but has a squeak, and not totally dismissed.
Now back on the same mark as his last win, which came over C&D in 2017, and he's only been seen five times since then. Beaten a length at Redcar over this trip last time, so comes here in form, and clear chances of going one better.
Fifth start overall tonight, and second for Mark Johnston. Showed signs of temperament at Lingfield last time (wouldn't load into stalls) but equally there was promise in her effort, and she may be capable of better if a bit more tractable.
Definite signs of promise on debut when second in a Jumpers Bumper at Southwell last March (winner useful) but hasn't reproduced that in three subsequent efforts and now connections try a tongue tie to get her back on track. Risky.
Would pick these up and carry them on the best of his form for Iain Jardine but went backwards last year for MIke Smith and now starts out life for Jim Goldie. Clearly very well treated and has to have a market check.
Three runs for new yard (left Mark Johnston) haven't revealed much, but it wasn't a total write-off at Redcar when upped in trip last time, and yard do get a few good pried winners here. May yet do better and worth considering at a price.
Won off this mark last August (at Wolverhampton) and has chances on that, but two awful efforts on last two runs and can't possibly be backed on her tailed off effort when last seen. Others preferred.
Winner of two of her 33 starts under Rules, and yet to score on artificial surfaces either. This trip suits but was in no great form when last seen, and very likely to need this after a break.
Yet to win after 17 starts but almost put that right when beaten a nose over C&D last August, a run that would give him every chance here. However, has to race from 2lb wrong here, and may need this after absence, so has questions to answer.
Well treated if you go back far enough (even from 2lb out of the handicap here) and it was a step back in the right direction at Nottingham last time, although it was a weak race. Needs more again here.
Going nowhere quickly at present and hard to make any sort of a case for her, racing from so far out of the handicap. Easy enough to pass over.
Forecasts
Bahkit (9/4), Ascot Week (6/1), Majestic Stone (7/1), Remmy D (7/1), Miss Ranger (8/1), Kwanza (10/1), Perceived (11/1), Zealous (12/1), Hillgrove Angel (16/1), Tarnhelm (25/1), Island Flame (28/1), Born In Thorne (28/1), Inflexiball (40/1), Dutch Melody (100/1)
BAHKIT has plenty going for him here - he's in form, has a C&D win to his name, so conditions are fine, and looks sure to get a pretty easy time of it on the lead here. All that could make him hard to get past, and he looks a solid selection. Tarnhelm is more interesting that a few and could go well at a price, and at the top of the handicap, cases can be made for both Miss Ranger and Remmy D, with the latter probably happier back on Tapeta tonight.
- Bahkit
- Tarnhelm
- Remmy D
