0-11 but has gone very close on his last three starts, first over 7f/AW at Kempton and Newcastle, then when nudged up 2lb back on turf at Redcar (7½f, good to firm) four days ago. Mark left alone, player again.

Made a winning debut when edging out Mr Buttons in York's Rous Selling Stakes (good to firm) in June 2018; acquitted herself okay in better races since until a poor show at Doncaster (7f) in September; seasonal reappearance.

Showed some promise in novice contests last summer from 7f-1m, returns for handicap debut after a break and could get competitive from this opening mark.

Well held favourite when last of four at Chelmsford (7f, AW) last time. In a deeper race on seasonal bow/stable debut here and stamina to be proven upped to this journey. Best form over 6f.

Beautifully bred sort but showed very little in three starts towards the back end of last season. Better effort over a mile on Pontefract recently on seasonal bow/handicap debut, eased 1lb since and can be in mix.

Sir Percy filly who ran some promising races as a novice last term, will relish a decent surface and stays this trip, makes handicap debut back from a break and worth market check.

Lawman filly with much-improved effort to win 1m Windsor handicap on good ground this month, getting up late on. Effectively carries 10lb more (rider was claiming 7lb) in better company now.

Has shown ability in three AW maidens this spring, represents top team and upped in trip for handicap/turf debut, not one to underestimate.

Camelot filly ran to a similar level in three starts last year without really progressing. Stepped up with third in 1m Windsor handicap (good) this month after a patient ride, can likely give more.

Three-time runner-up in minor races last summer (often caught late on) before disappointing in Windsor handicap (1m, good to firm) in final outing for Simon Crisford. No joy in four-race Dubai trip since and now has first run for latest handler.

Son of Dragon Pulse who fetched £20,000 as a yearling. Bit green at times last season in novice company. 1m/good ground likely to suit and opening handicap mark certainly afford him a chance.

Some promise last year in novice events and ran on from rear to be 3L fourth of 12 on handicap debut at Redcar (7f, good to firm) in September. 1lb lower for this return to action and should be capable of better things this term.

Little to shout about as a novice last year and never a threat when beaten a long way on recent handicap bow at Pontefract (1m, good to firm; 66-1); hard to envisage dramatic turnaround now.

Forecasts

Strawberry Jack (3/1), Perfecimperfection (4/1), George Mallory (9/2), Wall Of Sapphire (11/2), Ventura Bay (8/1), Creek Island (10/1), Curfewed (10/1), Joe The Beau (11/1), Play It By Ear (20/1), Jean Merci (20/1), Mecca's Gift (25/1), Chains Of Love (28/1), Northern Lyte (28/1), Dancing Speed (33/1), Highwaygrey (66/1), Al Mortajaz (66/1)

Verdict

Wall Of Sapphire has returned in good shape with a win at Windsor but faces a tougher test on these revised terms. Strawberry Jack looks capable of opening his account soon while handicaps may see better from the likes of Play It By Ear, Joe The Beau and Creek Island but the one to side with could be CURFEWED. He made the frame over a mile at Pontefract recently and has been eased a handy 3lb here. If there's a decent pace on, he should arrive with a challenge late on.
