Landed his third hurdle win in 17 starts at Down Royal last month off a 8lb lower mark. The win may have been a surprise for the form book but the Scorpion gelding went off at odds of 7/1. Leading player.

Course winner that has also won over this trip. Gallant and tough gelding is making his 20th start of the season and needs to bounce back to form in a big way here.

Placed on first couple of starts since joining this stable including in a 2m4f chase at Cork (soft) in early January. Pulled up when weakening in a Limerick handicap hurdle over 2m5f last month. Will need to raise overall profile to play a role.

Fourth at Clonmel a couple of starts back would give him a live chance but lesser efforts at Punchestown and Thurles since make others more appealing.

One from five over hurdles the daughter of Yeats has been mainly seen over the larger obstacles in a summer jumping campaign last year. Can go well fresh and market check needed.

10-year-old, versatile sort but sole hurdles success (from 22) came in a Clonmel maiden back in 2016. Mare not getting any younger and plenty more needed in this group.

Six-race maiden over hurdles including a 13½L defeat at Limerick last month finishing 10th of 17. First time cheekpieces unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed to play a role here.

Drops back in to hurdle company following a couple of starts over the larger obstacles. His win in a Punchestown handicap hurdle off a 9lb lower mark in January puts the Hard Spun gelding firmly in the mix here.

Has disappointed connections in a series of drab performances including finishing last of 22 beaten 78L in October before pulling up at Down Royal when last seen in January. Very little to be positive about.

Off the mark over hurdles for connections in a Clonmel maiden contest in May before falling three out when moving in to contention when last seen in June. Can go well on return from a long layoff if jumping fluently.

Running well in defeat in a number of starts over hurdles since the turn of the year. Solid and consistent sort who should go well again.

Gelding by Craigsteel was sending out mixed messages last term in a summer jumping campaign but remains a six-race maiden under national hunt rules. Overall record cast doubt on her ability to get competitive.

Still only has a single success to his name from 14 starts over hurdles. The Tajraasi gelding has been struggling of late well beaten over 120L in his last couple of starts. Hard to place any faith in.

Poor 87-rated handicap hurdler who has started at odds of no less than 66/1 on each of his last four starts, running accordingly on each occasion. Form doesn't warrant support here.

Verdict

GLOBAL RACING won a Punchestown handicap hurdle in good style around the turn of the year before finishing a respectable third of 18 beaten 3¼L behind the Willie Mullins-trained, Eight And Bob. The Hard Spun gelding can take the prize here at the expense of Down Royal winner Ballymadun, the returning Bomber Jackson and course winner, Draycott Place.
