Very useful in handicaps, though below best most recently and surely has it all against him meeting high-class opposition here.

2017 St Leger winner, scored at this level on return last season and not disgraced in top-class contests thereafter. Sets a clear standard for the others to aim at.

Well held recently behind Magical in Alleged Stakes at Naas, this longer trip well worth another crack and could have place claims on his best efforts.

Last sighted running with credit in the Melbourne Cup. Hasn't scored since the 2017 Ebor at York over this trip but respected raider nonetheless.

Tends to run his races and has been competitive at this level before, runner-up on recent return at Gowran Park (1m6f, yielding to soft) and needs to build on that now.

Good performer for Jim Bolger last year, career-best when winning 10-runner Listed race at Cork (1m4f, good; 7-1) 21 days ago by ½L from Who's Step on first start for Joseph O'Brien. Interesting off that run, though this is tougher again.

French import, failed to sparkle in two autumn starts for this handler. Looks up against it on that form and stable have clearer chance with Cimeara.

Listed winner over 1m5f here last season on quick ground and continued to progress afterwards, Galileo colt should have more to come this term and gives his trainer a very strong hand in this race.

Pleasing success on reappearance at Gowran Park (1m6f, yielding to soft) this month, always holding off Twilight Payment. More on his plate this time.

Forecasts

Capri (5/4), Southern France (2/1), Twilight Payment (7/1), Whirling Dervish (11/1), Mustajeer (12/1), Cimeara (14/1), Nakeeta (25/1), Master Of Reality (33/1), Brazos (33/1)

Verdict

Aidan O'Brien appears to have strong claims of winning this race for an eighth time since it was added to the programme in 2003. CAPRI sets a strong standard having run with credit in Group 1 company last season and the 2017 St Leger hero made a winning reappearance last term so there are no concerns on his readiness. Stablemate Southern France could give him a race while Cimeara's recent Cork success suggested there is further scope for improvement for him there season. Former Ebor winner Nakeeta could have enough for some prize money.
  1. Capri
  2. Southern France
  3. Cimeara
