Still a maiden under Rules but shaped promisingly on first run over fences at Sandown in December. Disappointing in two outings since then over longer trips. Drop back may help cause though and has been eased further 4lb since last start.

11-race ex-Irish maiden whose best form came at around 2m4f. Makes debut for new connections and tackles fences for the first time since modest sole run in this sphere at Clonmel last month. Interesting to see if he has accimatised.

Won over C&D off 2lb lower mark in November but has been disappointing since in four starts off higher mark. Return to happy hunting ground should help cause and yard has fine 19% strike rate here.

Came good at third time of asking over fences when scrambling home at Huntingdon last time. Rasied 3lb but should be thereabouts if in similar form. Any rain would not be an issue.

Failed to score in nine starts for Nigel Twiston-Davies at up to 3m1f and has cut little ice in two runs over hurdles for current yard of late. Not completely disgraced on only previous run over fences and has been eased 4lb.

3-13 over fences, all wins coming at up to 2m1f. Has looked as though stamina is an issue on previous attempts at around this trip and is still 4lb higher than last win at Chepstow in February. Has something to prove.

Charlie Snow Angelt18
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-11| J: Thomas Willmott| T: Miss S E Forster| OR:  95

Won at Newcastle and Kelso last year and failed by just a nose to score again at Kelso over 2m5f last month, Fair efforts in two subsequent starts but does appear to be just about in handicapper's grip. Won't be far away though.

Forecasts

Smuggler's Blues (15/8), Corri Lindo (11/4), Vivaccio (7/1), Charlie Snow Angel (8/1), Thyne For Gold (8/1), Sartene's Son (9/1), Lickpenny Larry (10/1)

Verdict

With his yard sending out stacks of winners at this track THYNE FOR GOLD may well add to his November C&D victory despite a couple of modest subsequent efforts. Top weight Smuggler's Blues might do better over this shorter trip than of late, and in-form Vivaccio should be thereabouts too. Charlie Snow Angel is in with a squeak, while any money for the ex-Irish Corri Lindo would be well worth noting in a race of basically exposed performers.
  1. Thyne For Gold
  2. Vivaccio
  3. Smuggler's Blues
