Back over fences after a frustrating spell over hurdles (twice beaten in sellers) but did win a chase back in 2017 (for previous yard). Trip may be plenty short enough now and although yard can't stop having winners, this one does look beatable.

Came good at Bangor last December, a reasonable piece of form in the context of this race, but has rather looked in the grip of the handicapper since then and ideally he might want another couple of furlongs. Place chances again.

Just two wins in 43 starts an obvious sticking point, going nowhere quickly at the moment but just possible a drop back to the minimum trip on good ground could produce a better effort. Place possibilities at a price.

First run for 11 months when reappearing at Stratford lately (hurdles) and there was some promise to it given the trip was too far. Not the force of old but there could be a race to be won with him this summer, and not totally dismissed here.

Forecasts

Ardera Cross (10/11), Cruiseaweigh (11/8), Glance Back (9/4), Canny Tom (4/1), Boxer Beat (20/1)

Verdict

This is weak and very winnable. Tom George is back among the winners and that can only help CRUISEAWEIGH's chance here, as he's really the only one that's got improvement to come and this bare 2m might suit him better than further, which he tried last time out and didn't seem to stay. Ardera Cross represents a yard that are flying but he looks moderate, and preference for the runner-up spot goes to Glance Back. Even old Boxer Beat can't be completely dismissed in a race that's there for the taking.
  1. Cruiseaweigh
  2. Glance Back
  3. Boxer Beat
