Scored at Redcar and Doncaster (both 1m2f) in August before seeing form tail off towards the end of 2018 campaign. Recent reappearance at Doncaster (1m2f, good) in apprentice race didn't suggest imminent return to winning ways.

Was having first run on the Flat since 2016 when beaten over 15L on the AW at Newcastle (1m2f) nine days ago (sent off 50-1); more needed despite drop into selling company.

Winner of a selling hurdle at Fakenham (2m, good to soft) last month, makes debut Archie Watson here. This could be a good starting point and has to have strong claims on these terms given he's in form.

Unable to take advantage of some golden chances in four hurdles starts since start of 2019; capable of bouncing back returned to the Flat in this modest event.

Just 1-20 to date and string of poor efforts through 2018. Needs a few of these rivals to be well below their capabilities in order to figure.

Forecasts

Clayton (6/5), Grand Inquisitor (13/8), Andok (6/1), Apterix (9/1), Hayward Field (33/1), Put The Law On You (100/1)

Verdict

Hard to fall in love with any of these. CLAYTON comes here having won last month over hurdles and new handler Archie Watson has seemingly found him a decent opportunity. It would be a disappointment if he can't grab it. Grand Inquisitor on the other hand has failed to grasp some clear chances over timber but could go well in this while Andok will be a threat if he can find the best of his 2018 form again.
  1. Clayton
  2. Andok
  3. Grand Inquisitor
