In fine form and bids for a course hat-trick after wining twice at two miles. Bolted up last time but hit with 11lb rise and has extra half mile to tackle here. Remains a serious contender though in current form.

Lost his way first four starts this term but back to winning form at Wetherby last week, scoring with plenty in hand follow four-month break. 7lb penalty and bounce factor always a danger, but should go close if none the worse for recent exertions.

Forecast

Solo Saxophone (4/9), Saint Freule (11/4), Becky The Thatcher (16/1), Welsh Rarebit (20/1), The Vocalist (25/1), Fisher Green (28/1), Moorlands Mist (50/1)

Verdict

A competitive handicap hurdle, but if SOLO SAXOPHONE is fully recovered from his runaway win at Wetherby last week he should take plenty of beating under his 7lb penalty. If he fails to hit the right notes then hat-trick seeking Saint Freule may be best placed to take advantage despite a big hike in the weights. Becky The Thatcher and The Vocalist, who returns from wind surgery, and the others who have claims to consideration.
  1. Solo Saxophone
  2. Saint Freule
  3. The Vocalist
