Enjoyed his day in the limelight when winning at Cheltenham's prestigious evening meeting (3m2f, good) in May 2017; got the better of an under-performing Unioniste when scoring over C&D in May 2018; headed close home in a PTP latest; cheekpieces on.
Four-time winner for Paul Nicholls (most effective between 2m4f-3m1f on good); finished 8¾L third to the ill-fated Carlos Du Fruitier in Sandown's Royal Artillery Gold Cup (3m, soft) on debut for Jeremy Scott; jumped very poorly latest.
A useful horse in his prime (both over hurdles and over fences); handles a sound surface and has winning hurdles form at this track; runner-up in both starts in Hunter Chases, including when beaten ½L by Master Baker at Newbury (2m7f, gd/sft).
Forecasts
Southfield Vic (1/2), Woodfleet (3/1), Keltus (11/2)
Paul Nicholls witnessed an under-performing Unioniste being beaten by Woodfleet over this C&D in May 2018, and that rival appears to be the main danger to his 132-rated veteran SOUTHFIELD VIC. However, with a sound surface underfoot and a couple of recent runs under his belt the selection (a two-time course hurdles winner) will surely still possess the required level of ability in order to win a race of this nature.
- Southfield Vic
- Woodfleet
- Keltus
