Career best effort when finishing a nose second in a 2m3f maiden hurdle at Fontwell (good-to-soft) in January. Interesting to see how he fares on his return from a break.

Dual point-to-point winner finished a good 7L second in a 2m5f maiden hurdle at Warwick (good) in March. Previously fourth in a 3m handicap at Newbury (good-to-soft) and is one for the shortlist in this contest.
Decent efforts in defeat in a couple of point-to-points in the autumn but pulled up on Rules debut earlier this week and blinkers are tried for the first time in this event.

Put a disappointing effort behind him when 20L third over an extended 3m1f at Hereford (good-to-soft) last time out. Interesting runner for a good yard dropping back in distance.

Looked a likely winner when falling two out on his penultimate start and ran well when 7L second over an extended 2m7f at Hexham (good-to-soft) subsequently. One for the shortlist in this contest.
Promising third in a 2m1f bumper at Aintree (good) on debut in October 2016. Absent since finishing seventh here in a bumper two months later and is making her debut for a new yard.

Placed on five of her 11 hurdles starts and beaten 12L in a 2m4f maiden event at Hexham (heavy) when fourth last time out. Likely more needed if she is to take this contest.

Financial Outcome (7/4), Shaman Du Berlais (2/1), Late Romantic (6/1), Master Card (13/2), Whispering Affair (7/1), Carrick Roads (11/1), Equus Flight (25/1), Carlita Moriviere (28/1), Jumpsuit (33/1), Hang Tough (66/1)

Verdict

SHAMAN DU BERLAIS finished a good second last time out and he is taken to go one better by taking this competitive looking staying novice hurdle. Financial Climate represents a decent yard and he can take second having filled the same position at Warwick last time out while third place can go to Late Romantic who has shown good form over fences in recent times.

  3. Late Romantic
