Very one paced and yet to trouble the scorer in nine career starts to date. Makes debut for new yard though and champion jockey doing the steering so there could be some improvement anticipated.

Won three times in winter of 2017 at around 2.4f and absent 15 months prior to fair second in Catterick novices h'cap chase last time. Reverts to timber but still 6lb higher than last winning mark.

Been in good form this term winning at Kelso in December than over C&D last time off 8lb higher mark. Ran plenty of good races in between so another bold show on the cards despite 5lb hike in the weights.

Stayed on well to score at Newcastle in January but 9lb rise looked harsh and couldn't follow up when third at Carlisle in February. Runs off same mark so has his work cut out once again.

Connections paid £68,000for him after winning point-to-point last spring. Only mid-division in three novice hurdles and has undergone a wind operation. First start back and makes handicap bow for good yard but needs to step up on previous efforts.

Yet to score in 12 starts but was unlucky at Catterick in January when going well 2 out only for rider to lose an iron. Went down by just half a length there but is now 7lb higher under same pilot.

Goes on any ground and ran solid race when second at Huntingdon last month in similar event under today's jockey. 4lb higher mark makes life tougher but has fair claims.

Little to show in five starts for Ben Case and makes debut here for new stable after tailing off last time in Chepstow novice hurdle. Making handicap debut too off lowly mark.

Approaching three years since his last win which came over 2m1f. Hasn't raced beyond 2m4f so stamina must be open to question. Yard without a jumps winner for 996 days.

Verdict

There appears to be plenty of dead wood in this race so BORDER VICTOR should make a bold bid to return to the winners' enclosure after some solid performances of late. Alfie Corbett cost a pretty penny but hasn't shown much so far. He moves into handicap company though so it would not surprise to see him produce a better display, while It's All About Me has a squeak although his rider is very inexperienced. Pray For A Rainbow, Ask Paddy, and the top weight Phoebus Lescribaa are others who are worth checking out in a modest heat.
