Won a similar contest last term (landed a gamble) and turned in her best effort this term last time out when fourth at Hereford off a 2lb higher mark. Cheekpieces are now reached for (first-time), chance if they have a positive effect.
Back from a long absence having to yet really show her best form over hurdles; win came in a modest Newton Abbot bumper. Did improve a little when last seen on handicap debut (beaten by a well-handicapped one); would have to be ready for this.
Fair Flat performer who hasn't been disgraced over hurdles (did make a winning start over them after all). Didn't run badly when returning over hurdles after a break at Market Rasen (2m, good); should be a player off this sort of mark.
Lightly-raced sort with plenty of absences on her racing record and while she has shown glimmers of ability and form she hasn't really achieved that much in total. May benefit for this switch to handicaps; opening mark looks stiff enough.
Irish Flat maiden (modest form only) who has shown a little more since being switched to this yard; appears to be building up to a better performance of late. Cheekpieces now go on (first-time); interesting and capable off this mark.
Very much looked the sort who would come forward for the handicap experience but has so far disappointed in three attempts in this sphere. Early days yet but ideally you would have wanted to see more to support her here.
Twice second for this yard (return to form) this term and she shaped better than the distance she was beaten last time (made a mistake at crucial time). Travelled better than most there last time; definite player in this.
Form for the most part has been modest on the Flat and over hurdles although she has shown some aptitude in the latter sphere. Finished well held of late including in handicaps; pulled-up last time; not one to make the shortlist.
Winner on the Flat at up to 1m4f (fairly useful form) but hasn't shown any progression over hurdles since moving to this yard from Harry Dunlop. Had a wind op prior to her last outing (finished well held); of more interest now switched to handicaps.
AW Flat winner when with Gay Kelleway but has yet to make much of an impression for this yard although it remains early days over hurdles. Failed to make much of an impression in handicap debut; not written off with these connections though.
Has come back from a sizeable break (19 months) to run a couple of races which have offered a little encouragement although she didn't really improve last time. Not many miles on the clock and a lowly mark to work with, may yet het involved.
Let down by her jumping prowess or lack of it in her last two starts failing to complete on both occasions. Will need to iron out that problem before she's of interest in any race let alone this one.
Poor maiden when trained in Ireland and has so far failed to make any strides forward having joined a yard that can improve this type. May be best excused her last run (didn't get the run of the race); yard have a stronger candidate in Lace Bonnet.
Modest sort on the Flat (2-22) who has shown very little switched to hurdles this winter including when making her handicap debut with cheekpieces on last time. Would need to show significant improvement to make an impact in this.
Very little sign of any ability so far be it over hurdles or on the Flat; switch to handicaps last time out failing to raise any hopes. Would be a surprise winner and hard to build a case for her at all.
Forecasts
Angel Of The North (9/2), Shroughmore Lass (5/1), Pottlereaghexpress (11/2), Sid Hoodie (13/2), Riviere Argentee (7/1), Camaplu (8/1), Golden Image (12/1), Toboggan's Fire (12/1), Lace Bonnet (14/1), Nancy Maher (20/1), Yalla Habibti (25/1), Ali The Hunter (33/1), Infiniti (40/1), Missesgeejay (50/1), Ruby Taylor (100/1)
Having already had four complex handicaps to cope with backers have to try and solve another for their last test of the day. Sid Hoodie is back from a break and given her previous form she would be one who has to be taken seriously along with Angel Of The North. She can’t be considered on form figures but her connections are very adept at producing with her background in handicaps. Toboggan’s Fire and River Argentee are a couple of other who have claims particularly the latter if she avoids errors this time. Money for Golden Image would be significant but it’s LACE BONNET who appeals the most in first-time cheekpieces for a yard that are gaining a burgeoning reputation.
- Lace Bonnet
- Riviere Argentee
