Goes well here with three course wins to his name, but would prefer this to be over his favoured 1m2f. Acts on the ground, but record when fresh not the most encouraging.
Returned from a break last week at Chelmsford with a respectable 1L third. 1-10 on turf, that success being over 1m2f and on fast ground. Has to be respected from an unchanged mark.
Six-race maiden, who was shaping last year as though he might break his duck, particularly when a neck second at Ripon (1m, good to firm) in May. Last two runs of the season were a disappointment, however, so returns with a bit to prove.
Acts on fast ground, but yet to win over this far. Back on a handy mark, but has been well held on the AW on his last couple of starts.
Won one of the divisions of this race in 2017, when 6lb higher. Ran well on his reappearance at Wolverhampton (1m, AW) in February. Not ruled out.
Scored at Musselburgh (1m1f, good) in August, but disappointed next time on his only previous try at this trip, and again when last seen at Wolverhampton in October. Bit to prove on his return from a break, but still on a competitive mark.
0-20 on turf, but has run some good races in defeat. Last win came at Chelmsford (1m, AW) in August, from today's mark, so can't dismiss him. Stable in decent form, but more needed to break his turf duck.
Ran once and made the frame for Andre Fabre (1m, soft) last year, before joining this stable. Uncompetitive in two maidens so far, but steps up in trip for this handicap debut and is worth a market check.
Scored on three occasions for Karen Tutty in 2018, including when fresh. Acts on most ground, including fast, and remains of interest from this mark on his stable debut/seasonal reappearance.
C&D winner in August and goes into this race on a 1lb lower mark. Not the most consistent performer, so is another in this field with a bit to prove on his return from a winter break.
0-19 on turf on the Flat (has won over hurdles). Scored from this mark on the AW at Wolverhampton in September. Shaped a little better on his second run after a break at Newcastle last time, but others make greater appeal.
Scored over this trip at Leopardstown last year and looks well treated on some of his Irish form, but returns from a break after a couple of uninspiring AW efforts at the end of last year.
Forecasts
Arctic Sea (11/4), Billy Roberts (11/4), Celtic Artisan (7/1), Quoteline Direct (7/1), Farhh Away (8/1), Mont Kinabalu (9/1), Magwadiri (16/1), Buckland Beau (25/1), Star Of Valour (33/1), Thornaby Nash (33/1), Straight Ash (33/1), Pumaflor (33/1)
A modest opener where Arctic Sea is of interest, Billy Roberts also, having won this race previously from a higher mark, but preference is for THORNABY NASH. The eight-year-old won when fresh last season, has won on good to firm and is on a very competitive mark. Star Of Valour would be interesting if supported.
- Thornaby Nash
- Billy Roberts
- Arctic Sea
