C&D winner last August has often threatened since although latest third as a short-priced favourite at Newcastle a shade disappointing. Still believe he's off a mark where he can win such a contest and merits respect here.
Only win came as a two-year-old in 2017 on turf but ran pretty well in all three previous starts on this surface at Newcastle. Wouldn't need to improve a great deal on those to go well here but this is her first run since October.
Won back-to-back races at Newcastle and Chelmsford before latest third at Newcastle in a claimer where he had it to do against the winner at the weights. 3lb higher now than last win but in excellent form and expect another bold bid.
Competitive throughout this winter albeit without getting his head in front. Won on this surface before and arrives here back to last winning mark for first time since and with this jockey aboard all looks set for him to now go seriously close.
Won last May but 12 subsequent race passed without success. Has won once on AW previously but doesn't appeal greatly on return to action based on level of performance in 2018.
All four career wins have come over this C&D and remains 4lb higher than the last of them. Faded into eighth latest on return to action here at 50/1. May again be a big price with others more compelling.
Won three times over C&D in last six starts, all under today's jockey. Came unstuck latest off latest revised mark at Southwell and although she will prefer it back here this a notch up in class from all previous wins.
In and out since win last summer on turf but that means he does arrive at a very workable mark. Repeat of Lingfield second in January would see him go close but lesser efforts since again cloud the picture.
Won twice on turf last summer and ran a whole host of good races in defeat also. Not obviously well handicapped on return and AW form less inspiring but if close to 100 per cent she could play a part.
Won six races on the AW although never on this surface. Not in the same vein of form of late and changed stables three times in last four races. Eighth of 12 at Lingfield latest on debut for these connections short of what's needed.
Forecasts
Canford Bay (5/2), Wiff Waff (11/4), Dandy's Beano (5/1), Zapper Cass (8/1), Foxtrot Knight (12/1), Toni's A Star (12/1), Krystallite (18/1), Entertaining Ben (25/1), Red Invader (33/1), David's Beauty (40/1)
A chance is taken on WIFF WAFF as he now returns to his last winning mark for the first time since then and that happens as he now teams up with the excellent Oisin Murphy for the first time. Zapper Cass is in great form and ought to remain competitive despite racing off 3lb higher here than his last win and Canford Bay also promises to go well after his third as favourite latest off this mark.
- Wiff Waff
- Zapper Cass
- Canford Bay
