Seven-race maiden, albeit with plenty of placed form on predominately soft/heavy ground (6f-7f) in the book; same mark as when finishing 2¾L third to Lincoln Park at Haydock (7f) in October; stablemate of Silver Dust and Call Him Al.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Connor Beasley| T: K Dalgleish| OR:  73
15/2
€60,000 yearling; failed to deliver the knockout punch in three starts as a juvenile (7f-1m2f), although did finish a respectable fourth (100/1) at Redcar in October; encounters quick ground on handicap bow; stablemate of Beechwood Izzy.

Jackamundo196
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: K Stott| T: D Carroll| OR:  73| D
5/1
€15,000 juvenile; has progressed in each of his four starts so far (5f-7f); 6lb higher than when making a winning handicap debut at Redcar (7f, good to firm) in September; evidently strong in the stamina department; worthy of respect.

City Tour143
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: J Fanning| T: C & M Johnston| OR:  73
5/2
57,000gns yearling; has raced exclusively on soft to heavy ground so far (6f-1m), with definite signs of visible ability; allocated a fair looking opening handicap mark; shouldn't be dismissed lightly.

Staycation160
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-13| J: D Allan| T: Rebecca Bastiman| OR:  67
25/1
12-race maiden; runner-up on final start for previous trainer Roger Fell at Chelmsford (5f) in October; sold for 13,000gns thereafter; worth trying over a longer trip as a son of Acclamation (caveat: dam was a 5f sprinter).

Had the run of the race when making a winning handicap debut over C&D in August (good); 0-6 since, and now rated 4lb lower than his winning mark; market a guide to his chance, along with stablemates Silver Dust and Lightning Attack.

Half-sister to the 6f winner Rickyroadboy; very mixed messages based on form shown so far, although could feasibly strip fitter for her handicap debut/seasonal reappearance run at Southwell (7f) 19-days ago.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-6| J: Rachel Richardson| T: T D Easterby| OR:  60| D

Off the mark at the seventh attempt when taking a divided Leicester nursery (7f, good to soft) by a neck from Balata Bay on final juvenile start; 3lb higher for seasonal reappearance.

Popping Corks61
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-4| J: Paula Muir(5)| T: Miss L A Perratt| OR:  58
50/1
The champagne was flowing as she edged out You Little Beauty by ½L in a low-key 6f AW nursery at Newcastle in November; hasn't improved since and the handicapper probably has her measure; obvious stamina concerns.

Forecasts

City Tour (5/2), Lightning Attack (9/2), Jackamundo (5/1), Iron Mike (15/2), Spirit Of Lund (8/1), Silver Dust (17/2), Call Him Al (12/1), Beechwood Izzy (20/1), Staycation (25/1), Uncle Norman (28/1), Kimberley Girl (50/1), Popping Corks (50/1)

Verdict

Richard Fahey saddles three runners, and the market will probably sort out the pecking order with regards Silver Dust, Lightning Attack and Call Him Al. Jackamundo is evidently strong in the stamina department, clearly appreciating stepping up in trip when making a winning handicap debut at Redcar in September. He should be positively involved despite a subsequent 6lb rise in the weights, whilst another for the short-list in an open contest is Beechwood Izzy. However, the more speculative shout goes up for the handicap debutante CITY TOUR on ground which is likely to be riding faster (more suitable) than he has experienced thus far.

  2. Jackamundo
  3. Beechwood Izzy
