Four-time course winner (twice C&D) with three of those wins coming in a purple patch (March-May last year). Scored only once since then as a result of tumbling down the weights but appears to be in a good spell at the moment; return here a bonus.

One standout effort to his name but hardly comes into this, his Fibresand debut with any solid form to his name. First-time cheekpieces now exchanged for the hood he wore last time; Fibresand debut having made little appeal in previous handicaps.

Shaped better than his final position on his one previous attempt on Fibresand over this trip (amateur ridden). Far from disgraced in several outings since and holds some interest off this mark (won off 60); can race freely but not out of this.

Yet to show his best form on Fibresand and has run some varied races of late ranging from respectable to poor (last time out). Now well below his last winning mark (52) but went with little fluency last time; hard to see him bouncing back here.

Yet to win a race (0-30 overall) but had until his most recent outing run some creditable races of late without looking like winning. Twice placed here in two visits he needs to put a laboured effort behind him from last time.

Had taken a step in the right direction on the level prior to proving a big disappointment over 1m4f here last time (well backed at various points in the day). Never on terms last time; drop back to 1m doesn't look what he needs to come back to form.

Fibresand debutante who comes here off a fair absence having last been seen finishing well held in a 6f Thirsk handicap (4lb out of the weights; first-time hood). Hardly looks one to be interested in even off this basement mark.

Yet to win a race (0-17) and now makes her Fibresand debut having underperformed (raced too free) when last seen. Sire yet to have a winner here (0-17) and not hard to have doubts about her stamina on this surface.

Back with one of her former yards and in first-time eyeshields (blinkers added here) she ran respectably again over 7f here last time. However, she does remain a maiden and once again looked rather weak in the finish (and hung) after travelling well.

Failed to impress on his one previous start over 6f but has won twice on the AW (Tapeta) since at up to 1m. Ran well last time out back over the 1m at Newcastle (Tapeta) off a basement mark; would have a chance if transferring that form to Fibresand.

Poor maiden who has yet to be tried on this surface; ran as well as could be expected in a Wolverhampton claimer last time (stiff task at the weights). May fare better back in a handicap but has to prove herself on this surface.

Forecasts

Limerick Lord (4/1), Joyful Dream (9/2), Lukoutoldmakezebak (5/1), Foxrush Take Time (6/1), Tellovoi (15/2), Highwayman (9/1), Voice of A Leader (10/1), Petra's Pony (10/1), Pullman Brown (12/1), Puchita (16/1), Hollywood Dream (16/1), Another Situation (16/1), Cliff Bay (16/1), Shakiah (40/1)

Verdict

A bargain basement end to the card but one that could see a lively betting heat. CLIFF BAY showed nothing when with Kenny Johnson but now back with his former and more successful yard he has to be of interest following a similar path to Jacob Black who was rejuvenated by the same trainer swap last year. Voice Of A Leader isn’t out of this based on some of his recent starts and did shape well enough when tried on this surface once before. Joyful Dream often travels well in her races without finishing them off and should be thereabouts while Lukoutoldmakezbak isn’t without a chance if taking to Fibresand. Limerick Lord and Tellovoi are two others to note having proved themselves here before.
  1. Cliff Bay
  2. Voice of A Leader
  3. Joyful Dream
