Won a 2m4f seller here in January but made no impression in a similar race latest. The drop in trip not expected to be an issue as he's also won over C&D before now but can be inconsistent and tends to need a break between his races these days.

C&D winner in this grade last time and remains competitive in a small field like this. Has switched yards since his last run but has a good attitude and should make a bold bid to land his three-timer.

Ran well in a couple of better races than this of late; sound claims if able to dish out a repeat dose. Some give underfoot suits ideally so wouldn't want the ground to dry out too much.

Best in at the weights and holds an obvious strong chance on these terms. Has his sights lowered considerably from his time with Willie Mullins in Ireland and it will be back to the drawing board if he cannot figure at this level.

A very modest handicapper on the Flat and was pulled up in both previous starts over hurdles. Very hard to recommend on those performances.

Forecasts

American Tom (5/6), Clayton (13/8), Generous Jack (7/1), Cliffside Park (11/1), Velvet Voice (100/1)

Verdict

This could provide AMERICAN TOM with a nice confidence booster in his first start since leaving Willie Mullins's powerful yard. The introduction of a hood suggest he's not the most straightforward individual but it will be surprising if he cannot play a strong role in this company. Clayton has been in fair form in better races than this, so merits consideration as an alternative, while Generous Jack is also likely to make this a good test if he runs his usual bustling race from the front.
