Runner up twice over hurdles last season but still a maiden in that sphere and not quite at best this campaign. Now tries fences for the first time.

Hit and miss over hurdles and now makes debut over the larger obstacles but this trip is ideal and some of his hurdling form puts him in the mix.

Survived a last fence blunder to get off the mark at Huntingdon at the third attempt over fences. 5lb rise is fair as he was in command up to that point and should play a leading role.

Off the mark over fences over 2m4f in October but unseated rider next time and showed nothing over hurdles on latest. Something to prove now back over the larger obstacles.

Switch to front running tactics seemed to suit when making all at Fontwell last month and 7lb rise could have been worse. Interesting if trying those tactics at this venue.

Probably flattered to get to withing 1/2L of Paddys Poem on recent chasing debut as that one made such a mistake at the last, but still ran creditably and does enjoy a 4lb pull.

A couple of placed efforts over hurdles a year ago but regressive in that sphere and more needed now fencing.

Don Des Fossest,v18
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-8| J: S Bowen| T: W Greatrex| OR:  103

Won a Bumper but struggled since. Better last time when second at Sedgefield when tried in this headgear and no surprise to see them retained.

Forecasts

Timoteo (5/2), Paddy's Poem (9/2), Le Capricieux (9/2), Don Des Fosses (7/1), Flight To Milan (15/2), Master Vintage (8/1), Blairs Cove (14/1), King Cnut (20/1)

Verdict

LE CAPRICIEUX was much improved when making all on latest and it's possible that he can build on that form. Paddy's Poem would have had more in hand but for his last fence mistake at Huntingdon and rates the main threat with Don Des Fosses competing the short list if the visor and tongue tie work again.
  1. Le Capricieux
  2. Paddy's Poem
  3. Don Des Fosses
