Hadn't finished outside the first two in his first five starts on the AW before a fourth over a mile in a Listed Kempton contest in November. Trip again is on the sharper side but represents a leading and in-form stable and has a good record fresh.
Has won four of his last six with the only defeats coming outside handicap company. Not disgraced at all when third at long odds in Group 3 Winter Derby, performing not far off his best. Up to defying this mark and looks set to go close.
First run since winning an Italian Group 3 in November. Can run some big races in good handicaps for leading stable who remain in good form, however returns to this sphere 3lb higher than his top winning mark and may find others better handicapped.
Won in this grade on his final start for Hugo Palmer last year and after being tried twice in Listed company for his new stable, ran up to the same level when third in a C&D conditions race last time. Still feasibly handicapped and open to progress.
Remains lightly-raced on the AW but although 1lb below last win, has been out of form in five starts since. Struggled in three starts in Meydan and that remains a big query on his return here. Stable also runs Masham Star and Ventura Knight.
All four AW wins have come at Lingfield but seems equally as effective here. Has been knocking on the door this winter without winning and while he is edging back in the weights, is likely to find one or two too good again.
Has never raced here previously but remains lightly-raced on the AW with both wins coming at Lingfield. Gelded since last being seen in July and has won following a lengthy absence previously. However an infrequent winner and this is tough.
Won two class 3 handicaps at the end of last year and not disgraced in this grade twice since. Remains 4lb higher than last winning mark and may find others better handicapped in a competitive contest.
Third off 3lb lower in this race last year and ran up to a similar standard when last seen at Leicester in October. Had race fitness last year but has won fresh previously and well drawn to take a prominent position. Capable of being involved.
Now down to 3lb lower than last winning turf mark and while he's yet to transfer that to an AW success in five starts, he wasn't disgraced when third behind Pactolus here over 1m1.5f. Better suited by this trip but two poor Meydan runs a worry.
Just 2lb higher than sole previous AW start, when winning at Chelmsford. Well-tried on last two starts last year but tends to need the run following an absence and makes a rare appearance without the usual blinkers.
Progressive sort this winter when completing a four-timer and then racing up to his best when third in this grade at Newcastle over 7f. Has more to offer over this trip and well drawn to take his favoured prominent position. Rates a leading hope.
C&D winner but remains 5lb higher than last win which came in a class 3 at Chelmsford last May. Has always found this grade a step too high previously and others look better handicapped in a competitive contest.
Forecasts
Pinnata (7/2), Silver Quartz (7/2), Victory Bond (7/2), Zwayyan (7/1), Goring (10/1), Pactolus (12/1), Breden (14/1), Third Time Lucky (14/1), Wahash (16/1), Masham Star (20/1), Aquarium (28/1), Ventura Knight (33/1), Qaffaal (40/1)
Victory Bond could perhaps have done with another furlong but remains a high-level and reliable AW performer and looks likely to go well in a typically open renewal. PACTOLUS is in flying form at the moment and off another good performance at Group level, he can continue his winning handicap streak. Silver Quartz and Pinnata are both open to plenty more improvement and rate as clear dangers while there is no reason why Third Time Lucky can't be involved in a race he was placed in last year.
- Pactolus
- Victory Bond
- Pinnata
