Her form in bumpers would entitle her to win something of this nature and she bounced backed from a very disappointing first hurdles effort last time. Travelled well to finish second versus a winner who had the run of the race; progress likely.

Fair on the Flat and a winner at up to 2m in that sphere, she looked a little in need of the experience on her hurdles debut over C&D. She was a little free on that occasion (first-time hood now); should do better if she deigns to settle.

Failed to match her French form (fair second in a decent claimer; 2m) in two runs since moving to GB. A change of tactics last time (held-up) allowed her to see things out a little better than she had on her GB debut; still has questions to answer.

Only had one bumper run for Dan Skelton before scoring in a weak Sedgefield bumper for Patrick Homes. Onto her third trainer when outclassed in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree; now makes her hurdles debut for her fourth different yard.

Plenty of attempts in bumpers and over hurdles so far (0-12); ran her best race so far last time at Kelso when second to an improver in a mares' handicap hurdle. This will be a tougher test; she would be better employed back in low-grade handicaps.

Little encouragement to be gleaned from her bumper runs she showed some promise for the first time at Sedgefield when finishing midfield. Ridden with an eye to the future there she will be of interest after this run with a handicap mark.

Had her usual headgear (blinkers) that she wore on the Flat left off for her hurdles/stable debut. She ran well below her level from the Flat sphere though and will need to show more her to make an impression.

Had hinted at ability on her only bumper run and stepped forward from her hurdles debut when second last time out (appeared to appreciate the better ground). Flattered to get so close to the winner but a similar effort will see her go close.

First run for this yard and also her initial run after a wind op (tongue-tie applied) plus her first start over hurdles. Modest on the Flat (1-18) her dam is a half-sister to a fairly useful hurdler; best watched for now.

Starts out back under Rules for a new yard (first run for them) having been poor over fences when last seen. Modest form in point-to-points since (1-13) and now makes her hurdles debut; others make far more appeal.

Leading candidate having been second in a Doncaster Listed hurdle before a complete flop when favourite at Ludlow; beaten 48L. That clearly wasn't anything like her true running and she will be looking to bounce back here.

Maiden on the Flat when with Tom Dascombe (had some fair form) who was looked after on her Sedgefield hurdles debut. She didn't pose any threat and will gain some more valuable experience of hurdling here.

Useful sort on the Flat when trained in Ireland but not quite clicked over hurdles as yet. This will be her second run for this yard and she ran respectably first time out for them over 2m3f here; return to 2m may well help.

Forecasts

Pink Legend (11/8), Lady Camelot (11/4), Via Delle Volte (4/1), Emma Lamb (13/2), Graceland (9/1), Ilaya (20/1), Lady Samback (33/1), Jaxlight (40/1), Our Cilla (50/1), Crimson Skies (66/1), Uisce Ur (100/1), Quiet Moment (100/1), Madam Scully (150/1)

Verdict

One or two that can be expected to have a fair chance of winning this with last year’s winning yard Phil Kirby looking to have a fair chance of landing the prize again with another four-year-old in LADY CAMELOT. She should appreciate this drop to a bare 2m after getting outstayed here last time. Via Delle Volte has the form to win this but her flop last time leaves a doubt in the mind and it remains to be seen if she bounces back. Both Emma Lamb and Pink Legend enter the equation also with the latter of that duo looking to build on a good second last time. Graceland needs to settle better to fulfil any potential over hurdles and a first-time hood should help with that.
  1. Lady Camelot
  2. Pink Legend
  3. Via Delle Volte
