Course specialist (five-time winner here; three C&D); took advantage of a good opportunity to win here in November (took race for second year running). Hasn't quite been in the same form since; may be better getting rather than giving weight.

Took a while to get off the mark but managed to do so in this grade at Hereford in October over a similar trip. Positive tactics used then have been employed since to good effect (runner-up both starts); will find it harder to dominate this field.

Still searching for her first win (0-8 over hurdles) and does look rather held by the handicapper off marks such as this. Ran a respectable race last time when third at Huntingdon; more needed in order to break her maiden status.

The only other C&D winner in the field showing improved form on that occasion but in a weak novice hurdle. Well beaten in two starts since under a penalty in a novice and off a stiff looking initial handicap mark; faces a difficult task.

Looks as though she has been brought along with handicaps in mind; made her debut in this sphere over further (failed to stay). Given a break after that outing and brought back in trip (with cheekpieces on), finished respectable third; chance.

Jockey booking takes the eye on a handicap debutante who has shown promise with this sphere in mind during novice races. Point-to-point winner who may need further (bred to need 3m plus) but can't be ruled out if market vibes are positive.

Just the two runs for this yard since leaving Ireland (well supported first time out) but has so far looked of limited ability. Handicapper drops her a further 2lb here to a career-low mark but a signs of revival are badly needed before supporting.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-6| J: R P McLernon| T: Miss S Smith| OR:  99| BF
14/1
Point-to-point winner who has struggled for the most part under Rules (remains a maiden). Hood returns after she looked a hard ride without it last time prior to unseating her rider; of limited appeal.

Maisy Belleh34
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: Page Fuller(3)| T: Miss Z C Davison| OR:  95
50/1
Tried in varied company for three different yards but with an inadequate response on all her six starts so far. Tried in handicaps the last twice but ran in snatches; pulled up eventually; makes little appeal on what she's shown so far.

More consistent than some in this contest you do have to go back to 2016 to find her last winning form; last win came off 5lb higher mark. A trio of third places probably sum up her capabilities at the moment, another placing her best hope here.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-13| J: Joshua Moore| T: M Madgwick| OR:  92

Fared a little bit better than of late on the AW over 2m but remains a maiden over hurdles (0-7) with little recent form. Took a very keen hold when last seen over hurdles over 2m here and not one to be getting involved with.

Dowhatudodobestv34
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: J E Moore| T: P W Middleton| OR:  79
5/1
Has caught the eye on her last two starts especially at Leicester last time when racing on the unfavoured (inside) part of the track. Dropped 2lb for that run she lurks on a very lenient handicap mark now; major chance in a weak heat.

Age: 4|  Weight: 10-0| J: James Best| T: P Henderson| OR:  88

Offered little so far over hurdles in her three runs over hurdles and now steps into handicaps with plenty to prove from 1lb out of the handicap. Hasn't jumped well or settled so far in her races and others appeal more.

From a good yard but has shown very limited if any form over hurdles so far including in handicaps. 16lb out of the handicap here and would be a surprise winner.

Verdict

Despite the size of the field few of these make much appeal with the Leicester eye-catcher DOWHATUDODOBEST the one that appeals most having been eased further in the weights for what amounted to a good effort considering where she was racing on the track. Ding Ding can never be left out of calculations are her “home” track and she should go well enough despite conceding weight to the entire field. Versifier and Mrs Miggins present solid place options on their last few outings while We’llcwhathappens can’t be ruled out if the market speaks for her with leading conditional Rex Dingle a taking jockey booking.
