A 1m4f turf winner at Catterick in October he's runs well in three recent AW starts back from a break. Better than his finishing position over 1m4f here last time (raced freely); this trip should prove suitable; not ruled out.
Two-time course winner with the first of that pair of victories coming over C&D; won over shorter in November. Form has proved a little stop-start since then and disappointed last time over C&D finding little at the finish.
A C&D winner here last month off a 3lb lower mark she looked to need all of this trip to get on top of some in-form types. Followed up with an equally good run over the same C&D proving that she is competitive off this mark; leading player.
Starting to get some help from the handicapper; took advantage of that assistance to run with credit off a break on his penultimate start. Not in quite the same form last time and now tries a shorter trip with more relief in the handicap needed.
Multiple course winner who is very at home over this trip here and has his usual headgear reapplied now. Looked to be working his way back to form last time (not given a hard time); may well be one to watch in the market.
Relatively cheap purchase (£7,000); scored on his first run for this yard at a big price on handicap debut (upset in stalls, raced of the pace, stayed on well). Still looks relatively unexposed up 4lb for that C&D win; has to prove he can follow up.
Still a maiden but only lightly-raced who looked to improve for the longer trip (1m3f) last time. Didn't get the best of runs there at Kempton and wasn't knocked around; promise if he copes with this shorter trip on Tapeta debut.
Has proved to be a consistent sort but has yet to win with this being her third handicap start. Ran with credit last time over 1m3f (form franked by the second since); handicapper looks in control at the moment with others off better marks.
Should be sharper for his last run over C&D after eight months away from the track. Has work to do to turn around the form with Manfadh though and may well need another run or two yet to be of any interest.
Ran well over C&D last time off a mark that equals her last winning one but did rather return to form from out of nowhere. Her second did see her run into a well handicapped sort though; no guarantee she will repeat that form.
Fair handicapper when with Michael Bell (won at Lingfield; 7f off a mark of 68) but hasn't (as yet) caught fire for his current yard. Ran with credit back in headgear over 1m2f last time (took strong hold); of interest if the market speaks for him.
Quirky but talented sort who hasn't won as much as he should a statement typified by his run last time over C&D. Didn't get the ideal trip (in first-time hood; retained) but travelled well enough; needs everything to fall his way.
C&D winner from out of the blue and handicap at 40-1 around this time last year but has done nothing since to suggest that he was going to repeat that run. May well have needed his latest outing after a break but has to improve markedly.
Forecasts
Illustrissime (4/1), Beauty Salon (4/1), Perfect Refuge (4/1), Manfadh (5/1), Apache Blaze (10/1), Freebe Rocks (10/1), Thawry (11/1), King Of Naples (11/1), Singing Sheriff (12/1), Zephyros (12/1), Ruby Gates (18/1), Tangramm (25/1), Blue Rocks (66/1)
Quite an interesting handicap with several that are of interest and the betting market could well be informative. Manfadh needs to prove he can back up his C&D win which given his price looks to have been unexpected although he should confirm form with King Of Naples and Zephyros who finished third and fifth. Singing Sheriff is up to winning at this level although the trip could be a little on the short side and for that reason PERFECT REFUGE is preferred. She’s turned in two very solid efforts here and clearly is suited to this C&D. Tangramm and Freebe Rocks are a pair who should be watched for a market move.
- Perfect Refuge
- Singing Sheriff
- Manfadh
