Age: 5|  Weight: 11-11| J: Fergus Gregory(5)| T: O Murphy| D
Improved on hurdles debut when winning by 12L in a maiden event over an extended 2m4f at Leicester (good-to-firm) last month. Penalised for that victory and a leading contender in this contest.

Coole Well36
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-11| J: Max Kendrick(5)| T: Jamie Snowden| OR:  127
Followed up a soft ground Plumpton success over 2m with a good second over an extended 2m1f at Fontwell (soft) just over a month ago. Likely to prove hard to beat despite carrying a penalty.
Unraced son of Papal Bull and a full-brother to the stables placed hurdler Mr Jack. Probably best watched on racecourse and hurdling debut.
Unraced Papal Bull gelding out of a mare who won over an extended 1m1f on the AW. Interesting to see how he fares on debut.
Soft ground point-to-point winner in March last year. Improved on Rules debut when finishing fourth in a soft ground bumper at Uttoxeter last month. Step up in distance likely to suit on debut over hurdles.

Shaman Du Berlaish45
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-5| J: Alan Johns| T: Tim Vaughan| OR:  120
Unlucky not to win a point-to-point on debut and placed in that sphere subsequently. Made the frame on both hurdles starts so far and one for the shortlist following a 2L second at Ffos Las (2m4f, heavy) last time out.
Decent effort on second of two hurdles starts in France last spring. Failed to repeat that form in two starts since joining this yard and probably best watched at present.

Forecasts

Coole Well (7/4), Chez Hans (9/4), Shaman Du Berlais (11/4), Jamessaintpatrick (8/1), Captain Speaking (20/1), Calypso Jack (33/1), Deewhy (33/1)

Verdict

COOLE WELL looks capable of registering a second hurdles victory by taking this small field novices' contest. The selection ran well when runner-up under a penalty last time out and can get the better of his rivals with Shaman Du Berlais, placed on his two most recent starts taken to get the better of previous winner Chez Hans in the battle for minor honours.
  1. Coole Well
  2. Shaman Du Berlais
  3. Chez Hans
