Improving hurdler who looked potentially useful when scoring decisively in a Catterick maiden hurdle (2m3½f, good to soft) last time. Could find more for this step up in trip and not ruled out under his penalty.

Was a useful bumper horse and has bettered that over hurdles, winning a Warwick maiden on his only run outside graded races. Should appreciate the return to this level and could prove tough to topple under his penalty.

Alone No More31

Won the last of his 10 point-to-points and has been well held in both hurdles outings. Up in trip, which should help but can only watch for the time being.

Sole rules win from 25 attempts was over fences (2m3f, heavy) when trained in France. Has looked useful over hurdles, despite not yet winning in this discipline, and not ruled out after a break.

Tailed off on his debut in a Catterick bumper last month, and fell on hurdles debut at Sedgefield. Readily opposed in this line-up.

Point-to-point winner (soft) in 2016, and showed some promise in two recent 2m4f hurdle runs at Hexham, both on testing ground. Slightly longer trip looks positive, but will need improvement.

Runner-up in sole Irish point-to-point showed nothing in both a bumper and on his hurdles debut. Since has wind surgery, but can only watch this time.

15-race maiden, but the best of his form (including when ½L third in a similar race over C&D last month) entitles him to plenty of respect. Probably wants more rain, but can't rule him out on return from a wind operation.

Has come on with each run in three Irish point-to-points, but will need much more than we have seen to get competitive on his hurdles debut.
Has yet managed to back up the bit of promise he showed in a Kelso bumper last May, particularly in two recent runs over obstacles. Impossible to make a case for him.

Very useful horse in bumpers, where he was beaten just once from four starts. Ran out when looking the winner at Kelso last month. Stuck on well to be ½L second over 2m4½f at Ayr last time. Should appreciate return to further. Claims.

25-1 and well beaten on debut when pulled up at Ayr. Can only watch.

Forecasts

Nestor Park (13/8), Sam's Adventure (5/2), Lord Du Mesnil (11/4), Arthur Mac (9/2), Bialco (16/1), Cloghouge Boy (100/1), Moon Rua (100/1), Clondaw Fixer (100/1), Chauvet Cave (100/1), Alone No More (100/1), Rocket Man Rodney (100/1), Stormy Reception (100/1)

Verdict

Another race to look forward to. Arthur Mac looks worth short-listing after winning last time, and he can give another good account. Sam's Adventure is another to seriously consider, while Lord Mesnil and Bialco could also get very competitive. However, NESTOR PARK should appreciate the return to this level and is taken to win again.
  1. Nestor Park
  2. Sam's Adventure
  3. Arthur Mac
