Winner on the Flat over 1m5f in France and put an unseat on hurdling debut behind him when winning over 2m1f at Exeter (good-to-soft) at the start of this month. Strong claims under a penalty.
Signs of ability on second of two bumper starts last season but struggled in both appearances over hurdles and likely to be of more interest once tackling handicaps.
Winner of four races on the Flat and finished a fair 21L fifth in a 2m maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter (soft) on debut in this sphere last month. Pulled up subsequently however and more needed in this contest.
Point-to-point winner on yielding-to-soft ground in May last year but has failed to figure in three starts under Rules including over hurdles the last twice. Drop in trip appeared to have little effect when well held last time.
Three time winner on turf and ran off a mark of 96 when runner-up in a valuable 1m4f handicap on soft ground at Doncaster in November. One to note on first start over hurdles.
Fair eighth in a good ground bumper on debut at Uttoxeter (good) in November but never involved when 55L tenth on hurdles debut at Newbury (good) recently. Interesting to see how he fares.
Heavy ground bumper winner in a tongue tie (absent here) at Ayr 12 months ago. Disappointing in two subsequent starts in similar races at that venue. Debuts over hurdles for new yard following a wind operation.
Placed in a small field heavy ground bumper at Tramore last April. Well beaten in two outings over hurdles for this yard however and probably best watched at present.
Struggled in six runs on the Flat and it was a similar story when beaten 34L on stable and hurdling debut in a 2m novice event at Lingfield (good-to-soft) recently.
18 race maiden under all codes and was beaten 69L when last of 16 in a hurdle over an extended 2m at Newbury (good-to-soft) a month ago. Probably best watched at present.
Winner on the AW in February last year but struggled on the Flat since and likely best watched on stable and hurdling debut.
Forecasts
Precious Cargo (6/4), Extra Mag (6/4), Not So Sleepy (4/1), Leader Writer (16/1), Sunday At Augusta (20/1), Oscar Maguire (33/1), Sotomayor (33/1), Celtic Joy (50/1), Manofthemoment (50/1), Lady Natasha (125/1), Sweep Of Diamonds (125/1)
Penalised runner EXTRA MAG can record a second victory over hurdles by taking this opening contest. The selection has forecast underfoot conditions to suit and can see off Not So Sleepy who was a useful horse on the Flat and is a decent recruit to hurdling. Third place can go the way of bumper winner Precious Cargo who makes his hurdling debut for a top yard.
