Showed plenty of zest in two starts in Ireland before getting off the mark over 7f here last time out. The step up in trip is a concern but the gelding has been allotted a potentially lenient mark for his handicap debut. Shortlisted.
Managed to win an average seller for her former yard but the mare failed to back it up when well beaten in an apprentices race at Doncaster in October. Best watched on debut for a new yard. (A jumps career may beckon after this.)
Reasonable efforts in her last two starts and looks capable of at least holding her own in this sort of company. This trip suits too. Another to bear in mind.
Lightly raced four-year-old and dropping to handy mark. But needs to improve upon the form shown for her new yard and has a bit to prove now he's back up in trip.
Winner at Chelmsford from a 2lb lower mark last March and not disgraced in three outings in the spring. Not seen out since May though and needs to prove her fitness. Only raced here twice before but place claims on the pick of those runs.
Already a four-time course winner and is set to race from 4lb below her last winning mark. Placed in a fillies only handicap latest but more required here. Wide draw not ideal.
Finished behind Sunshineandbubbles here earlier in the month but may have been in need of the run on that occasion. Has won over C&D before now but is still 3lb above that winning mark. Needs to up her game now her fitness has been topped with a run
Didn't show much in three starts for her former yard and is best watched on debut run for a new trainer.
Won a claimer here last July but starts since have been below that standard. Plenty to prove after only a modest effort last time out.
Not won for over two years but dropped to a handy mark as a result. Has to be noted that his AW form has been poor up to press though. Others more appealing.
Multiple C&D winner and cannot be discounted back at his favourite course. Holds a couple of these on recent form and another bold show could be in the offering. (Very well handicapped on past form but is a shade of better days.)
Both wins for hos former yard came off a mark of 68, so reasonable to suggest he's on a workable rating just now. Recent form suggests he's losing a bit of interest though. Yet to shine for his current trainer.
Exploited a handy mark to win over C&D last month but has never been the most consistent and a 4lb higher mark sees him needing to match his career highest winning rating.
Forecasts
Captain Dan (9/4), Sajanjl (9/2), Tagle (8/1), Sunshineandbubbles (8/1), Zephyros (10/1), Energia Flavio (10/1), Freebe Rocks (12/1), Ghazan (14/1), Bell Heather (16/1), Manfadh (20/1), Berlusca (20/1), See The Sea (20/1), King Of Naples (25/1)
The unexposed profile of CAPTAIN DAN is a tempting proposition for a race of this nature and the lightly raced five-year-old could well make up for lost time if he takes the step up in trip in his stride. Course specialist Berlusca is another to bear in mind, as he can never confidently be discounted at his favourite track, while Sajanjl also has more to offer and appeals for a place in the frame at least.
- Captain Dan
- Berlusca
