On a hat-trick following recent C&D Class 6 wins; 6lb higher (carries a penalty) than when beating Delicate Kiss by a decisive 1¼L last Friday; obvious chance, albeit a wide draw is unhelpful.
Veteran of 77 races who sports a 10% AW strike-rate; pulled-up (burst a blood vessel) when last in competitive action in May 2018; watching brief only on first start for Paul George.
Has finished second on four of his 12 career starts and is still searching for that elusive breakthrough success; seemingly best suited by a sound surface on turf; has slacked off on the AW more latterly.
Has the ability to score from his current handicap mark and took a step back in the right direction when beaten 1½L by Delicate Kiss over C&D in December; has left John Butler since; wide draw a potential negative.
A shadow of the horse who was competing in Listed/Group races (inc the Norfolk and Molecomb Stakes) for Richard Hannon as a juvenile in 2015; excuses at Chelmsford (Class 6) latest; drops a further 3lb lower in the handicap today.
Beaten a nose off this mark (by Storm Melody) over 7f here in December - 5/2f; has to definitively prove himself at this longer trip but could prove a real force at this level based upon his 2014/15 form for Charlie Appleby.
C&D winner who was on the premises here on his penultimate start despite finishing only sixth to Cuttin' Edge (beaten about 3L); not so strong at Newcastle latest (7f) but handily is eased a further 3lb in the weights; useful 7lb claimer aboard.
A winner off a 3lb lower mark when last competing on the AW at Wolverhampton (1m+) in June 2018; 0-6 on turf since with his form tapering off most latterly; returns fresh from a 72-day break.
Still without a win (0-13) although isn't fully exposed on an artificial surface (0-3); has raced over 1m2f and further in each of her last six starts - run down from the furlong pole under an enterprising ride here (1m2f) latest.
Veteran who has done the bulk of his winning in low grade handicaps on turf (10-49); last seen in competitive action for Des Donovan at Killarney in August; look elsewhere.
Didn't cover herself in glory for Irish handler Ger Lyons (0-7 between 6f-1m2f) and similarly has failed to make much of an impression over an extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton for current trainer David Evans; visor now applied.
Forecasts
Weloof (3/1), Mr Mac (7/2), Barrsbrook (7/1), Ventriloquist (8/1), Kodi Koh (10/1), Highway One (10/1), Spiritual Star (12/1), Ubla (12/1), King Of Rooks (16/1), Scrutiny (16/1), King Torus (16/1)
The hat-trick seeking Mr Mac and the feasibly handicapped Weloof (debuts for Paul D'Arcy) are potentially hindered by their wide draws in stalls 10 and 11 respectively. Ventriloquist was a fair performer for Godolphin in 2014/15 and could prove to be a real force at this level from a much reduced handicap mark if able to stay this 1m trip. However, in an open race a chance is taken on UBLA. He is well suited by Lingfield, is handily drawn and his winning chance is further boosted by the presence of the useful 7lb claimer Toby Eley in the saddle.
- Ubla
- Ventriloquist
- Mr Mac
