Won here over 2m6f last season (from a mark of 103) but not to so good in two starts towards the back end of last year. Now has a bit to prove after weak effort latest. Stiff task under top weight.
Good effort when upped to this trip last time out and remains of interest now his fitness has been topped up. Worthy contender and still unexposed over hurdles.
A winner over 2m at Warwick last March but missed most of last season afterwards. Not disgraced in two efforts in recent months and there is likely to be more to come. Shortlisted.
Still a maiden after 11 starts over hurdles and cracks are starting to appear. Did post one of his better efforts to finish second at Southwell last month but can be inconsistent and difficult to suggest he'll be in the same frame of mind here.
Has shown ability and still open to improvement, but needs to up his game after a poor run at Warwick last month and now has something to prove.
Already a three-time winner over timber but is still 2lb higher than his last winning mark and it has to be a concern that he's failed to get round or complete either of his last two starts. Outside chance of bouncing back but risks attached.
Winner over fences last time out and back over hurdles from the same mark. Never managed a win over timber yet. Over two years since he posted any worthwhile form in this type of event and looks a risky option.
Just 1lb above his last winning mark over hurdles but has lacked a finishing kick in his three starts since returning from an absence. Has a bit to prove and may best left to his own devices.
Shaped with promise on his hurdles debut last November but not so good in two starts since. Well held latest but possible he has more to offer. Place claims at best here though.
Good effort on his return from a break and wind surgery just before Christmas and not disgraced at Taunton five days later. Fitness shouldn't be an issue this so time so the gelding has to be worth considering. Another to bear in mind.
Has gone well fresh before now but is 5lb above her last winning mark and hasn't seen a racecourse for just over two years until now. The betting may produce a few clues but the gut feeling has to be that the mare is best watched.
Has won a point-to-point but starts over hurdles have been moderate so far. Debuts in a handicap from a fair mark but still has a good deal to prove.
Showed promise in bumpers before notching a highly respectable effort to finish second on hurdles debut last month. Going the right way and plenty of room to move from his current mark. Rider's claim also a help.
Would have solid enough claims on the pick of his chase form but efforts over timber don't yet match up in terms of natural ability. Likely to give a good account but others look more convincing.
Forecasts
Gone Platinum (3/1), Martabot (9/2), Golden Whisky (7/1), Loud As Lions (7/1), Brigadier Bob (8/1), Chief Brody (9/1), Atomic Rumble (10/1), Maguire's Glen (12/1), Oskar's Eva (16/1), Tarrona (20/1), Easter Eric (20/1), Mine's A Pint (20/1), Dalaman (33/1), Fact Flow (40/1)
A case can be made for a small handful of these and support for any of: Golden Whisky, Brigadier Bob, or Loud As Lions could be rewarded with a place in the frame. However, a chance is taken that MARTABOT will have benefited greatly from two spins round last month and the David Pipe-trained gelding looks a worthy candidate to back with a sporting punt in an open handicap hurdle.
- Martabot
- Golden Whisky
- Brigadier Bob
