Without a win since joining his current stable from Italy, but has shown a useful level of form and went mighty close when runner-up at Chelmsford last month. Obvious chance off 1lb higher.

9/1
Chelmsford winner over 7f in May, but has not been seen since disappointing on turf in July. Should be much happier back on the AW, but handicap mark looks a little high.

Won three times, including twice on the AW, when trained by William Knight. First run for this trainer and worth checking in the betting after a break since June.

20/1
Stable companion of Ballard Down who was out of sorts in two starts at Wolverhampton last month. Dropping down the weights and is on a lenient mark if the flame can be rekindled.

Tough Remedy12
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: P J McDonald| T: K Dalgleish| OR:  87| C
10/11
Turf/AW winner in the autumn, but struggled on latest outing at Lingfield on New Year's Eve. Previous third at this venue off 1lb lower gives him solid claims, however.

Forecasts

Tough Remedy (10/11), Azzeccagarbugli (3/1), Ballard Down (5/1), Qaffaal (9/1), Steel Train (20/1)

Verdict

Tough Remedy acts on this surface and has few miles on the clock so he has to enter calculations. However, he has yet to win over this far so slight preference is for top-weight AZZECCAGARBUGLI, who was just touched off last time and deserves compensation. Qaffaal will appreciate the return to the AW and is respected, but stable companions Ballard Down and Steel Train have something to prove and are best watched unless the market speaks loudly in their favour.
  1. Azzeccagarbugli
  2. Tough Remedy
  3. Qaffaal
