Well beaten on only start last year after which he underwent wind surgery. Probably best watched on this occasion.
Remains a maiden after 14 starts, but has run well on his last four outings and would not be winning out of turn. Latest effort was solid and he has sound claims if the first-time visor has a positive effect.
Reasonable efforts at Wolverhampton on both starts since joining current stable from Phil York's stable. Inching down the weights and yard has been among the winners.
Scored over C&D in September, but was behind Good Man later that month. Has been running over further, but this looks his optimum trip.
Last win came on the Southwell Fibresand, but he is a C&D winner who has been running consistently well of late. Likely to be on the premises again.
Irish raider who was a capable performer in his prime, but last year's displays suggest he is not the force of old. Handicap mark has fallen accordingly, but he needs to show more.
Only AW win was achieved at Wolverhampton, the venue at which he finished second of 10 over 1m1½f last time. Has prospects on that display, especially if this step up in trip suits.
Out of the frame and beaten a long way on all six starts, three of them on the AW and three in turf bumpers. Can only be watched on this handicap debut.
Struggling over hurdles at the end of last year and reverts to the Flat with plenty to prove. Stable looks to have a stronger contender in Splash Of Verve.
Fair hurdler who was runner-up on his only run over fences at Aintree in October. Has since run respectably in a Musselburgh hurdle and previous good Flat form on turf gives him solid each-way claims.
Maiden after 15 starts, 11 of them on the AW. Tries a longer trip and it will need to eke out considerable improvement.
Kept on into third in a C&D amateur riders' handicap last weekend. That was a fair effort, but more is needed if he is to shed his maiden tag at the 12th attempt.
Maiden who has been placed only three times in 16 races. Hopes are pinned on first-time blinkers prompting significant improvement.
Best run in five starts when fifth of 12 in a Wolverhampton handicap last time. Needs to step forward again off 2lb lower, but that is not out of the question.
Forecasts
Good Man (3/1), Hugoigo (7/1), Traditional Dancer (15/2), Sweetest Smile (8/1), Highway Robber (8/1), Clive Clifton (10/1), Glasgon (10/1), Manomine (11/1), Splash Of Verve (25/1), Going Native (25/1), Puchita (33/1), Rajapur (33/1), Bigbadboy (40/1), Fields Of Fire (100/1)
Quite a tricky opener for punters, but one which may go to GOOD MAN, who has been knocking on the door and may finally get off the mark with a visor fitted for the first time. Clive Clifton is interesting for a stable among the winners, while bottom-weight Sweetest Smile has possibilities and others who enter calculations include Glasgon, Splash Of Verve and Traditional Dancer.
- Good Man
- Clive Clifton
- Traditional Dancer
